New Bard - Stat Points

Just started and have no clue where to put stat points. I'm lvl 15 and have 10 stat points to spend and mostly just solo quest to level up. I saw some of the guides mentioned Proficiency and Brutality are best for PvE so do i just keep dumping half into each one until i hit lvl 60? What about Vitality? Thanks.

Well your stats depends much on your role so if you're a PVE DPS bard then I'd say go for proficiency and brutality and you can get either some vitality or blood lust though most and main focus should be on proficiency and brutality..I'd say don't bother with determination as determination is imo a tank stat for tanks to have a bigger hold of aggro by doing more dps and healing and it requires you to receive damage but you're a DPS class and you should avoid receiving damage at all costs so determination is a stat I try to avoid for DPS classes..As for PVP you might actually need quite more survival like more vitality or blood lust and determination would be a good stat in PVP even for DPS classes because you're more subject to get attacked and receive damage in PVP,Simply there's no tank taking aggro off you in PVP so that's why and of course proficiency and brutality are great stats for pvp too..In order to build your stats, you need to figure out your role first: PVP or PVE?tanky or DPS or support focused?

I explained stats in my little bard guide here after I discussed them with many friends:

In case you don't understand my explanation for stats in my guide, you can check Fiddler's guide here,he explained stats as well:

Also there is a PMB bard guide where some stats specially brutality were explained well using percents and logically so it might help you find the right balance of brutality and proficiency stats in order to get best results in DPS (if we assume you're going DPS bard),that's the PMB guide:

I hope these help you out and if you wanna ask about anything else about bards, feel free to ask me :)

Edit:I wanted to add,I personally put all the extra stat points(the one you distribute not the ones from gear)in proficiency while my gear give me good brutality and blood lust but you don't have to do the same..Simply try to distribute the stat points in a stat that you know your gear won't feed well and balance your stats well to make your proficiency and brutality the highest of them..Anger and tenacity and will and determination are the stats I'd recommend you neglect in a PVE build (you can focus determination in PVE in (edit:two) cases IMO which are being a tank bard and personally I don't believe much in PVE tank bards because they don't have aggro skills or probably solo farming builds though killing mobs before they get close is always the best choice so even for solo farming/leveling builds I'd focus proficiency and brutality more than determination).
Hilver level 60 Kanian great skald.
