Stuck while leveling

Hello,
I'm playing a healer and have recently hit a brick wall at level 77. I wanted to finish the Ammer quest line (up until raid quests at least) and now I can't progress at the last few quests (the one where you have to travel to the future) since my damage and survivability are abysmal. I guess it's a gear issue but the quest reward gear is capped at lvl 75 and I'm not finding anything better.
What am I missing here or what am I doing wrong?

if u have gold, u can buy better gear on AH for example they are quite cheap.
