You cannot learn weaponsmithing

I'm trying to learn a profession. I learned blacksmithing and want to have weaponsmithing as my second profession but it says I can't learn it. What are the requirements?

There is an item in the Cash Shop that you need to purchase called:
Permit of the Master Artisan.

If you want an additional one beyond that, you need to purchase the one called:
Permit of the Exceptional Artisan

There is a cap on how many professions you can have. You start with one, it can be increased up to 3.

This one is pretty much a noob trap. For a new player it would be infinitely faster to get the crafters reputation (especially with blacksmithing) than enough crystals for this item.

If you want an additional one beyond that, you need to purchase the one called:
Permit of the Exceptional Artisan

This one is indeed unobtainable by easier means.

If you go this route instead of CS'n it, you will be lvl 50 when it will actually open for you.

Let's look at the other route:

Current gold exchange rate is 347:1 when buying. The permit is 500 crystals. It's 173500 gold to get it.

I'd say there's no way he can get this much at level 50, maybe near 65 if he uses all his savings towards it (which isn't a good idea btw)

As a new player, I wouldn't bother having more than 1 profession.

1st profession to take is the one you can craft better gears to your own character (blacksmithing for healers, paladins and warriors: leatherworking for scouts, mechanics, psionicists, bards and wardens: tailoring for mages and summoners)

2nd (extra) prof weaponsmithing - when you have a max level character and plan on making reincarnations... (otherwise not recommended unless you are willing to use real money.)

3rd (extra) prof alchemy (not recommended at this stage of the game - maybe after patch 7 has been released)

You people probably remember the reputation quest from very old days. Right now it's VERY VERY EASY in comparison... unless you take alchemy as your fist profession.

Wow, did you not really read what I put? All I said was that he/she will be lvl 50 BEFORE getting the second profession if they choose not to do the cs route. Was just letting the OP know what they were in for and not to expect it before.

That's exactly what I understood from your post. I just expanded it saying that he/she will be level 65 before getting the second profession if they choose the CS route and why.

Therefore he/she has two choices:

1) don't use CS and get the second profession after level 50, but still before 65

or

2) use CS and get the second profession at 65

CS and get the second profession at 65
Has it changed? Years ago you could buy it and instantly get it working.. no level boundaries whatsoever.. or do I remember it wrong?

You theoretically could, but there's no way for a new player to get anywhere near required amount of crystals for a long time. Much longer than it takes to get the level + farm the rep.

Yes, in reality you could buy it right when you start leveling up your professions just as you could the 3rd one. What Dala is saying is that if you use gold to get the 2nd profession you wont have the gold till 65.
