Would not agree. At low and mid skill Mage will do better, but not at high. There's just more timers to watch and buttons to press as psi and many people can't keep up. That's the reason why the view is skewed.

If you are saying raw damage yes Psi will prevail but Mage sacrifices too little damage for the safety it has. Psi has all the damage but Mage's damage is close to psi with way more safety. At least when I was playing the game it was a fact.

Psi can break all beams on Zalesky Posad's last boss using twin + Astral form damage reduction stacking, or take up to 3 green orbs spawning in a row on Plague city first boss.

Those can be taken without any loss of dps as there's still spare talents after taking everything essential. Rubies are completely different story though...

I've done that on P2P where there's no patronage 5, so everyone takes damage greater by at least 50 percentage points. Not sure if mage can top that.

P5 does not influence the defense but only the attack and the healing by +250% bonus when P4 gives +200%, so you do 16.7% more damages and healing more than P4 :D

Edited the post. Don't know why I wrote % when I meant percentage points. It's a common mistake. (Damn it, looks like I am human after all, nooooooo!). But given that probably very few people have runes of level 6 or 7, the total difference might actually reach values close to 50%.

Like I said I may not know much because I left the game when Mage was still the OP master of death.
