Yes, but slaughters like that are just a huge turn-off for the questing new player and reincarnation - they are the ones complaining because they lose exp when some badass wannabe storms in and kills them.
sadly, i did not have the privilege to enjoy these times... when i started playing thre was level 51 already
you say there was no exchange NPC, but were there z-shop items? so was it impossbile for a free player to get all items back then?

The game was a lot different. When they introduced the incense mechanics, where it boosts damage by 50%/100%/150%/200%, they also removed the incense daily. If they hadn't removed the incense daily, I bet my ass nowhere near as much players would have quit. Back then however, we could farm low level mobs, so what free players had to do is go to a place like Coba at lvl 42, and farm without incense for 2-3-4 hours to make the gold to buy incense for a day of endgame. It wasn't good. You have your character kicking ass one day, and on the other you have him unable to kill a mob of his level without spending real money to get incense. No 4 hours daily incense, no incense daily, the only option to get your damage was to buy an incense from the itemshop. Or buy it from players. It was so bad, that GMs had to stock the AH with incenses, or have incense giveaways to keep at least a bunch of people around. :/

this really sounds horrible. i did not know that the game was at such a point... i guess THAT is what i would call pay to win then... or no, rather call it pay to play, cause if its impossible to kill normal mobs then you cannot play? ...
