There is no way in hell you can remotely catch up with old players if you work on a farm-gold-to-pay-for-everything principle

you can not catch up in short time. good this way, allods is a longterm-game
even i have not catched up completely since i started when level 51 patch was, those who started from the beginning and never made a break are still ahead of me regarding runes
i do my best to catch up however im pretty well right now so i have no stress and do it with pleasure
allods is not a contest, you CAN take it as one but you dont have to if its not fun to you

What part of competetive do you not understand, mate 'basic' runes these days are at least full 7's and talking about catching up? FULL 7 is not worth, for defense you really dont need to have 7... thats more like a waste
better focus on offensive, those are the ones which help you in every aspect
- and again: ofc a new player wont have high end equip - it takes time to become stonger here

2. EPRST will show you your gold per minute. Trying to keep it above a certain value creates a nice sense of competing against the game. Farming kill counter lets you "set quests" for yourself, like "okay, let's go kill 500 mobs". Then you go and don't stop until it hits 500.

its only 2 or 3 buttons to press you dont even have to watch your screen

It's not free. You pay in money, or you pay in time. (Time is money and all that jibber-jabber.) Paying in time is done two ways: either you no-life yourself in order to not spend months reaching a point you want to be at, or you spend those months. And if you don't want either of those, you pay in real-world money. If you don't want that either, you don't reach that goal.

I'm minded to think of the contrast in advancing your gear between 4.X and 5.0. In 4.X, I could go to the Astral Academy and talk to the merc captain, then off I went to an allod with whoever happened to be around, and free mercs if the group was under-sized. The drops were reasonably copious, and with a good-sized bag I could take in 300+ gold per run if I just dumped all the stuff at a merchant. I did this a couple of times a day and managed in four or so months to upgrade a reasonable fraction of my gear to 51-legendary with 51 green/blue non-upgradable glyphs.

Now we have 5.0. If I want to upgrade my gear, I'm stuck fighting Wellebell mobs I can't kill, paying for mercs (I presume) once I get to an allod, assuming I can find a ship to travel as crew (or a crew for my ship), doing a weird set of activities I haven't really got my head around. It's more expensive in game-gold, more expensive in time, and to get good results it requires more CS purchases, using either real money or yet more gold to buy crystals.

Thanks, guys, I needed that. (On the other hand, my main character in a certain other game that will remain nameless, but might be inspired by the works of George Lucas, is progressing nicely as a result. I haven't stopped playing Allods, but my enthusiasm is a bit (translation: a lot) muted now, so I visit daily to do my guild quests and my incense/mount-feed quest, and not much more.)

To preempt the question, no, I can't call on my guild for help. Most of the "15" members are low-to-mid reincs and alts of the chief and treasurer, and the only level 60 is me because the others have been obstructed by school and exams...

But Allods is a contest. The whole game is based on gearing up and then participating in pvp against other people. If you want to get amalgams or realgar you will need to contest for it. Gearing up to pvp to gear up to pvp.


Theoretically Allods is free to play but practicly it isn't. Unless you stick to the utter basic of things. Back in the day it was a lot easier to get runes though when crystals were on a 1:1 rate of gold, think back 40-42 patch.

Again man on a competitive level runes do matter a lot. It might not be from your perception because you play for casual fun. I'm already decked out in more than half legends and I have quite a few cs items ( lvl 11 runes, most top items) and fighting the top SoS parties is tough. In the end it all boils down to what you want to achieve in the game, just talk with your friends and gear up a bit or try to win.

Casual does not equal competetive.

if you want to successfully participate in fights where those fight which have top gear and top items its clear that its hard and that it needs long time to get there
you obviously talk about the segment where players invest large amounts of time AND money, right?

since i dont care for this kind of fight (its so ultra rare and there is more or less no reward at all for it!) i am not the correct partner for this discussion then

15 crystals for compass on EU with exchange rate of <20g (Can't really remember, before merge)
idk how it was on NA but I heard that exchange was really big there...

The crystal price per compass is the same as the old server.
The gold - crystal exchange rate is a completely different matter, and something that dynamically changes (something we do not control!!) over the course of time.

On american server price was 7 crystals.
Actually u could have bought it for 5-7 crystals each if u buy in bulk and ppl were selling them on Auction house for 7-10 crystals.
This event was meant for everyone to enjoy spending money, 15 crystals per compass is not enjoyable.
This is why this game is dying outside russia. Game is not designed to have such high prices in item shop.

You have not taken into account that now buying 1000 crystals for NA costs $13.70 where it use to only cost $10.00. So NO the prices are not the same as the old servers. I am not even talking about the stupid exchange rate. Not all of us has the time nor patience to grind for the outrageous costs of upgrading gear let alone have some gold left over to exchange them for crystals. I am talking about cash plain and simple.

I wasn't on EU and I very rarely exchange gold for crystals therefore your point is not valid.

The cost of a compass individually was the same, in that regard you are right. But we had the option to buy in bulk. This dramatically reduced the price for a single compass if you were interested in going for more than just a few.

Every single person not in a country that is using the Euro is effected by the exchange rate, some in a good way, some in a bad way. But that is down to the international exchange rate, not us.
Do I know why a straight dollar option is not offered? No.. I don't. I assume its because to be able to properly offer that would over complicate things (on such a multi-national server) far too much.. as if you offer the Dollar, then you will have to offer every other currency on the off chance that there might be someone that uses it. (there also might mean things with lengthy contracts etc.. I don't know.. I am not an international payment specialist).

The information I was given said that 15 crystals per compass was the price all non-RU servers paid. If the previous publisher decided to charge less for it last time on your server, good for you back then then. - Yes I may be guilty of having incorrect information, but I am certainly not guilty of attempting to intentionally make a false statement - like you previously claimed.

Regarding the bulk option, they tried to add that before it went live, but something went wrong and it couldn't be included. I hope that it will be included on any future Prophetic Compass sales, but I cannot promise anything.
