Isle of Revelations - Reverse fishing

I don't get this repeatable quest to work. Does anyone know is it bugged or just me being stupid? You are supposed to kill gars to obtain blood, then use the blood to lure a worm out of the ground and kill it. Did that quite many times and nothing. Is it a matter of rare drops that you have to kill tons of them? (Like most repeatable quests are in that zone.)

Sadly, yes, the drop rate for this quest can be startlingly low.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I remember that it was boring to do this quest. I don't remember specific details about it though :(
