the game is rated for 12+
Then why can we even turn off the swear filter? Serious question, why is it even there? If profanity is completely banned, why is censoring optional? I would think it would make quite a deal more sense to be consistent in its application.

That is a legitimate point.

Not as much of a legitimate point.
Why isn't all of our chat just ** ***** *** *** ***?
If we can't handle words, then why be allowed to use them at all?

The profanity filter is not a licence to use profanity, just as wearing a bulletproof vest is not licence to shoot me.

this is the BEST statement regarding cusswords i have EVER read, lol 8o

+1 to this

beside i have 1 question: do you flame

1] to vent or do you flame
2] because you try to change ppls behavior?

because if 2nd, it will only lead to get on the ignorelist of these you flame at, nobody will change his behavior just because a stranger flames...
and if 1st its weird how someone can get so upset by a game 8|

(but i personally do NOT care about profanity! i think its funny to use these words and its even funnier to read them in games where they are somehow unfitting but still funny)

The reason swear words exist is to put emphasis on something.

Example:

I had the worst f***ing day ever.
My dog died, my mother died, and I lost my job.
***k this.

So we can't even use words that emphasize something?

Should we not be allowed to use the word "very"?
That word puts emphasis on something too.

To be fair, swearing is just a part of my natural vocabulary.
If you don't like it, put me on ignore.
I shouldn't be muted for being myself though.
That seems incredibly discriminatory.

ok, answer is

3] you do not flame, you use swear words to put emphasis on something

this means there is no insulting

no insulting means it is ok :)

(at least for me :P )

Because, just like in real life, what people do in the privacy of their own homes is up to them.

It's when it affects others that moderation needs to get involved, in the form of a mute, or being arrested for public decency/breach of the peace.

People aren't being muted for swearing once, or even a *reasonable* amount - its when people are consistently foul mouthed, or have particularly offensive outbursts that muting comes into play.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Lets play a game, can I have the list of the swear words please?
I will find the ones I can use legally then.

Please provide me with all the so called "swear words" that you consider them as.
Thank you.

PS, Is word "Damn" and "bitch" and "whore" a swear word? because those words are allowed on the television, what is television rated as?

Allods.ru is not 16+ either.

Taken just moments ago.

It does not matter whether you (or anyone else) swear every second word in person.
DO. NOT. SWEAR. IN. THE. PUBLIC. CHAT. - simples.
If you do, and either someone reports it, or a GM happens to be online and sees you doing it, they have every right to warn you, or if you have already received a number of warnings, then to mute you. And you can't blame anyone but yourself for doing it when you KNOW its not allowed.
The same goes for private chats with people you do not know or trust.

To add to what Dhamp said, it is only in extreme cases that it goes straight to a mute, there is usually at least 1, if not more warnings about it before a mute comes into play.

This is a lie  I was never warned on my first mute. Nor have I got an email with the LOGICAL reasoning.
Oh, and to top it all, if person "A" starts arguing with person "B", and person "A" takes a Screen Shot in middle of the argument where person "B" had it with person "A", Person "B" is the one who will still receive the punishment, just sayin :whistling:
Not to mention getting muted for something that occurred about 2-4 months prior.

8)
Still waiting for that list of the curse words as well

According to the PEGI rankings allods is on the edge of being 16+, actually it should be moved back to the 16 it once was. I dunno how much you paid to change that

Also PEGI 12+ allows mild swearing, so unless people use other things as 'fuck' etc., which in EU is considered mild, allods shouldn't mute. Well then again, the company doesn't have to follow the PEGI Info in case they are just going to make it a more 'mild' game environment.

They are full of it and making up rules as they go.

Are you seriously having a discussion that using bad language is acceptable?

Regardless the obscenity filter - bad language is extremely offensive and if you think that using an f word in every second sentence is alright, tells a lot about who you are...

George Carlin would have a thing or two to say about statements of this nature.

Definitely, because using bad language by some comedian during one of his performances means exactly the same as offending fellow players in various public chats...

Oly, I have seen exactly what you were muted for, and it does not fall in the lines of a "yeah, thats worth a warning" it went straight into the "woooh there, that so far past acceptable, I had to walk 5 miles just to get here".
you were not only using a lot of inappropriate language, but you were using it to be heavily ABUSIVE.

The rules have been there since the start, so its hardly like we're just pulling rules out of nowhere.
Its not like we have been magically editing the rules and adding things when we feel like it. Since I have been here, there has only been 1 edit to the rules thread, that was to change the report links from the email based system we used to, to the support system that is now in place.

I have double checked, since there was confusion, while the RU version is indeed 12+, we are 16+. HOWEVER that does not excuse anyone verbally abusing another member of the community... EVER.

Regarding the PEGI, to my knowledge that is based on the ingame content.. when it comes to the language that covers the mission content, NPC chat etc, it has nothing to do with the severity of language that the community members are permitted to use.

Wraith everyday players que up for skirmishes in aod/bg's and such. They are allowed to afk, leave right after joining, or just not help at all. As a player who is trying to do the skirmish this is very irritating. If I say anything about it...im in the wrong. But they receive no punishment. I am sorry if you dont agree but simply put THATS F******* REDICULOUS.

How is it that this game can even have a rating of 12+? I am a mother of 4 and I would personally rather have to explain to my kids about the bad language then have to explain to them what the heck a brothel is.
If profanity is a big no no then I think you all need to figure out a way to change some of the quest explanations because some of those too cuss. If we are not allowed to use bad words then the questlines shouldnt be able to either and the whole brothel line needs to be changed.
While we are at it, some of the outfits being sold in CS and ones the npc's wear should be changed too.

While you all nit pick about our language because the kids can't handle it, tickets go unsolved and people wait 4+ days to have them answered. That means 4+ days of people being stuck in 1 place and not being able to advance. Don't you think that will get people to quit more then the bad language they see. By the way answer my ticket before I go off and start using bad language.

EDIT:
Please show me where it has the age limit on it. I have looked and have not been able to find it. RU's in on the main page on the bottom. Looking at ours there is nothing there.
