Dead Ships (Merry)

What's the trick to this fight? I try pulling the monkey away, but after about 2 spells to just him Merry decides to come and play with me also. And do to the terrible leveling system I don't think I have the gear to kill him. I don't see how this can be a solo quest. Need help Sorry I am a summoner. And I don't have DP ><

Don't know what class you are, but if you have a long cc (icy grave, hypno, lullaby, lethargy potion, debilitating plague), use it on Merry and kill his monkey. If you don't manage to kill him before he starts summoning the monkey again, make sure you re-cast your long cc, this will interrupt monkey summon.

There's more than fair change you can't do it. The boss is too hard for many classes, if the gears and builds aren't a top notch. Even on new frontier server.
