It's fine. I'm the same way. :) It's just sad to see such a fun server continuously plummet.

Whoever plans to play on it is either plain stupid to realize that its another cashgrab method by the notorious Allods team OR is just willingly giving this game on life support more quick cash to increase their ego levels for couple months before the server merges.

new server mean new fights between players to reach the greatness
that's why they will pay more for that

no its not, if there is no exchange-NPC a non paying player cant achieve anything on the long
items will be exclusively for donators, THIS would be a pay-to-win scenario then

this would also lead to the circumstance that the majority of non-paying players would not want to play on the new server

its likely there will b ea short "Population-boost" at the start and after 1 or 2 weeks ppl will leave again and return either to normal server or subscription-server...

Other people exists and you can naturally do business with them. There used to be time when there was no exchanger AND the game wasn't pay2win. Only scenario where p2w exists where you can't trade crystals or CS items.

of course they will be a currency exchange (why would there not be? lol). when the avilon server opened up on NA, it was only temporarily disabled for a period of time at the beginning.

you can pay other players in every game (sell your gold -> become a goldseller) or otherwise sell your $ / BC and buy gold
thats a mechanic that can never be defended since the gamerules can never stop players from making deals outside the game
however, why would someone EVER buy gold? especially on a x3 goldrate server? there is no useful goldsink in the game at all except gearup & items from itemshop... but these dont take a lot of gold....
only thing that comes to my mind is build runes... but you can adjust this slider and thus wont have real problems gaining enough gold for building good runes

so it will be hard to find someone willing to exchange his BC for your gold
also, when you depend on the goodwill of players its... well its not a proper solution... however the one which donates can buy everything while the farmer cant. even if he farms 24/7 365 while gaining 89234023840234802934823 gold with auctions
thus i call this pay to win then

give the farmer some NPC to exchange his gold, all is good, he has a chance then

ah this is interesting... i looked on russian server because its likely it will be similar here; they still dont have this NPC...
can you remember how long it approximately took on avilon server until he appeared? did exchange started at 1:1? was it announced the NPC will come?

The runes that the russians got were fragile level 8s once they wore off they got the crystal chips that come with them and so they would maybe get you to level 4 - 5 runes.

Edit: The new server if we get what they have, then it is a marathon and it gives the 1st person of their class who hits level 75, 100 fire works and the option to choose a prize of some sort. which if i find the information on will edit in. Then there is getting 1st in other things as-well like reinc, maze, a few other stuff that they choose.

"Goldseller" refers to sellings things outside of the game. In the case i explained, this doesn't happen. Games will eventually get their natural p2wmoney/gold rate established as long as gold is somewhat valuable currency, which you pointed out might not be the case

Spoiler Spoiler

And sure it is a major design flaw that basically killed f2p

There is absolutely no need for artificial crystal exchange npc. I personally view exchange npc unnecessary bureaucracy. It is much more enjoyable to do business and trade in an environment where exchanger does not exist. If the players feel like they don't need to sell crystals for gold, sure f2p players get fucked up, but exchanger would barely help when the prices in this case would simply skyrocket. Root of the problem is simply that gold is not valuable.

if there is no trader there should be the option to sell gold on auctions like you can sell everythin else
but this still will be problematic if there is noone who wants to sell

the exchange-npc is mandatory to make this game properly "free to play" compatible
if hteoretically NOONE will sell his BC or if theoretically EVERYONE plays without donation you still can gain every item then

You're confusing cause and effect.

There was no exchange-npc in the Allods originally, but people were able to play for free buying C$ stuff for gold from other players directly or at AH.

At some point of in-game economic development the exchange rate settles down and the exchange-npc can appear providing floating rate after that. But not at the beginning of the server obviously, coz no one knows what exchange rate should be taken as a starting point. And the way the exchange-npc works (unlike some retarded conspiracy fans would think) requires stable gold-cash-gold exchange flow and volume.
