Allods designers: it's time for Allods review some design choices

I try to use a subtle title, but i'll explain:

Many elements from Allods are very similar to WoW, like the UI and some other stuff, and I think it's time for Allods to step it up and walks by itself, not taking inspiration from WoW anymore, Allods is a very unique game and I think it would be great if we had our own thing instead of trying to be something that already exists. I mean, Allods should set Allods own style, i'll try to show you:

That's WoW map:

That's Allods map:

Look how the folds on the top-right edge and bottom-left edge are exactly the same

That's WoW minimap:

That's Allods minimap:

and there's a lot more design choices that looks very similar to WoW (like skill bars, etc) and to me I think Allods could go 180º and set its own style, to tone down comparisons like many people has made before.

So there's that. I play Allods since its release, let's set OUR thing, not THEIR thing.

why innovate the wheel again and again? if the map works this way and is fine i dont see a problem if a similar game looks similar

It isn't a wow copy, it's much better. Heck, there are dozen games with similar maps and mini maps, skill bars, avatar icons etc - not only allods and wow. Besides allods had similar maps since 90's when it was created - now they just look better. I don't understand the reference always between wow and allods - they are worlds apart and allods is much better. Allods has more style and details in the art - i.e. the mini map is not just blurry dots on hazy landscape.

The world map corners.. that's classic way of showing an open scroll or parchment... it's not just wow or allods but in everywhere and doesn't really have anything to do with either of the games. So I don't see a valid point of changing allods style. Both games just have same/similar genre, that's about it.

joar, they could do some improvements like possibility to make waypoints on maps or questpoints clickable in map but design is fine imho.

my wish for the map is that they make a button to close the map at the place the mousecursor is when u open it with mouse so u can clickclick it to take a fast look without having to move the curser in the upperright corner... !
PLS make Tekians playable race. fix shipcanons!

You're contradicting yourself. Fact is it is unique and it is nothing like WoW, aside from both being a tab-target MMORPG, both having the old style of UI, and both including Orcs. In that regard, it's not the only game to have those exact same things. Cosmetically, thematically, mechanically (outside of the above + recent addition of AoE mechanics, which are 'standard' anyway), very little in Allods is actually all that similar.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's totally understandable that people would like a 'general update/overhaul' - but I don't think "WoW" when I look at anything that has been pointed out so far (and I've been playing it for nearly a decade).

Just my 2cents as a fellow player.

Mhul

and one more thing, your picture shows bright colored dots on the allods map, showing the milestones
the game normally does not have these bright dots on the map
this is an edited picture...

I think the similarity between them is because the borders are crumpled scrolls. One thing I noticed that people complain about is how the pointer in WoW and Allods are the same when they're not. Sure they seem identical at a glance but there's a distinct difference them.

Sorry about the allods mouse image being so small. I had to find it on an image on google and snipping tool it.

Why don't you just press M - opens and closes the map.... or did you mean the mini map?

You can also double click the quest icon in either map view and it will autorun you there. Just like you could put autorun from the quest headline. You can also directly run to any teleport or June Ruin showed in the map by double clicking the icon - both in the big map and in mini map.

Once again I fail to see any problem...

edit: the map of allods is taken from internet and it was made back in the day when the milestones weren't marked in the maps. I for one did similar guide maps back in ~2012. That particular map however isn't one of mine (didn't use different colored dots).

yeah, many ppl dont look carefully but generalize things fast
i remember some old dosgames which also have a plate-glove as mousecursor, this is really not something unique
