[Guide] The Path of Greatness (WIP)

Original guide by kraftycheese, torn from the necrotic grip of the forums of old via the Internet Wayback Machine. Some of these things may or may not be out of date due to patching, but this is the last known publicly available guide. I like to hope some of this is still relevant and useful for those who need it. Anyone who can help point out bad info, or provide something new would be GREATLY appreciated.

Introduction

The release of patch 3.0 brought about many changes and opportunities which included an increased level cap, a new end-game raid instance, and of course, the baby steps to obtaining your very own Allod. The process of personal Allod ownership is not to be taken lightly as a very lengthy series of tasks require completion first. This guide will serve to assist you on your journey and, hopefully, answer any questions you may have.

Allod creation is comprised of three main quests spanning a minimum of 35 weeks to complete. The first quest in the series is Title of the Great, followed by Project Source, and concluding with The Creator's Gift. Details on how to complete each quest portion will be explained within their designated sections. Tips and tricks will also be provided to facilitate this incredibly long expedition.

Title of the Great

The Title of the Great is a quest in which a player must obtain 320 Emblems of Greatness (EoGs) over a minimal course of 13-16 weeks* and turn them into the Bookkeeper in order to gain an extra ruby, another talent point, and most exclusively, access to a second build for your character. Other minor rewards for earning "Greatness" is a new frame for your player's portrait, the ability to use /boast2 and also a new class label for yourself (example: if you are an Arisen Healer, you will be titled as "Arisen Great Healer" once Greatness is achieved). How does one obtain these Emblems of Greatness? There are quite a few ways, and some methods you may find easier than others.

Obtaining Emblems of Greatness:

Amalgam: Turning in Amalgam to the Bookkeeper will earn you Emblems of Greatness at a 1:1 ratio. If this is the only method you plan on using for obtaining Emblems, you will need at least 40 Amalgam to acquire all EoGs for the week.

The Dead City: Killing bosses inside Dead City will reward you with Emblems of Greatness. One Emblem of Greatness is earned for each of the three bosses (a total of three) killed in the first wing cleared, two Emblems of Greatness are earned for each of the three bosses (a total of six) killed in the second wing cleared, and three Emblems of Greatness are earned for each of the three bosses (a total of nine) killed in the third wing cleared. To sum it up, for killing all nine bosses in each of the three wings, a player can obtain 18 Emblems of Greatness. Additionally Emblems of Greatness can also be looted from killing both Nihaz and the Dead King; each boss kill will earn you four extra Emblems of Greatness bringing the total EoG count to 26.

Trials in Tka-Rik's Cave: The Cave of Trials offers a special quest for those in the process of completing Greatness. Players can pick up a quest inside the Cave known as "Path of the Great". The quest requires players to complete 20 trials and turn in one Astral Key and rewards you with an Emblem of Greatness. The necessity of an Astral Key to complete this quest is a bit of a turn off.
Krafty Tip: If you have Astral Keys that are about to expire, it's a good idea to do this quest to avoid wasting keys altogether.

Battle Emblems: Turning in Battle Emblems earned from Deserted Farm and Witch's Hollow is another form of EoG earnings. You'll need to bring 120 Battle Emblems as well as an Astral Key to the Bookkeeper for your reward.
Krafty Tip: If you have Astral Keys that are about to expire, it's a good idea to do this option to avoid wasting keys altogether.

Draconic Relics: A player may exchange level 51 Draconic Relics for 10 Emblems of Greatness each and you do not need to uncurse relics before turning them in.

Turning in Emblems:

Bookkeepers: Each faction has their own Bookkeeper to whom they hand their Emblems over to. Nikolai Promokashkin is Empire's Bookkeeper and can be found on the top floor of Yasker's Tower outside of Yasker's room to the left of the teleportation pad. Klim Pisarev is League's Bookkeeper and can be found in Aidenus' Room to the left of Aidenus himself.

Counterfoils: Each week your faction's Bookkeeper has a quest for you to pick up 40 Counterfoils which are then used to turn in your Emblems of Greatness. This is essentially the reason it takes such a lengthy amount of time to achieve Greatness; the Counterfoils limit the amount of Emblems a player may turn in to 40 per week.

Cost: Becoming Great comes with a price. Players are charged 100 gold for each Emblem of Greatness turned in. The final cost is between 26,000-32,000* gold (4,000 gold per week).

Reincarnations: A player wishing to obtain Greatness on their Reincarnation need only use a Mystery Seal, but only if another Reincarnation/Progenitor has achieved it first. Likewise a Progenitor may use a Mystery Seal to complete the Greatness quest if one of their Reincarnations has already gotten Greatness. Using a Seal gives you 320 Emblems of Greatness already handed in at no additional cost and without having to wait 16 weeks. Some have reported that they receive an error message when trying to use a Mystery Seal to complete the Greatness quest. If this happens to you (it happened to my healer reincarnate), send in a ticket via the support page and a GM should be able to assist you with handing it in. Mystery Seals cannot be used to complete any quest portions following Greatness.

*Please note that the reason for giving a range in minimal time needed to complete the quest and total gold cost is due to players reaching level 47 prior to Patch 3.0 who received 60 automatically turned in Emblems of Greatness as compensation for their efforts.

Project Source

Project Source is the shortest of the three main quests that need to be completed to access personal Allod ownership. Adventurers must procure 20 Radiant Astralium and turn it in to their faction's Bookkeeper. This particular quest takes a minimum of five weeks to complete and can cost anywhere from 0-20,000 gold. Completing this quest is also the easiest of the three as there are only two ways to obtain Radiant Astralium: Slay the final boss of an Astral Allod or hire a Captain to gather Radiant Astralium for you. There are pros and cons to both methods, however, so be sure you understand the details involved with each technique. You are limited to the amount of Radiant Astralium you can turn in per week due to the fact that this quest requires Astral Keys for completion.

The Astral Method: For most players, this is the tactic of choice to obtain Radiant Astralium particles as the only thing they have to do is complete an Astral Allod (kill the final boss) and you do not have to pay any gold for acquisition. It is important to know that the Allod must be an upgrade sector (Sector 6 and higher) in order for Radiant Astralium to drop from the final boss. The only downside to earning particles this way is that if you do not complete the Allod, you do not get the Astralium which will set you back in progressing through this quest.

Hire a Captain Method: After picking up this quest, the Bookkeeper will have options regarding how to obtain and turn in Astralium. One of the selections involves hiring a captain to gather Radiant Astralium for you. This is where the gold factors in. It costs 200 gold and an Astral Key in order for you to gain 1 particle. The downside to this option is that you will be using an Astral Key without collecting any gear/gold for doing the Allod as well as surrendering 200 gold. The good news is, it guarantees you a particle without the hassle of worrying about whether or not your party will be capable of completing the Allod. If you have keys that are about to expire and you want to keep up with turning in particles, it would be wise to spend the gold/keys to get the Astralium.
Krafty Tip: One important thing to remember is that there is no confirmation on spending the gold and Astral Key to get the Astralium, so when you are talking to the Bookkeeper, be very careful that you do not accidentally choose the wrong option!

The Creator's Gift

If you've made it this far, there's really no going back now! The Creator's Gift phase quest is the most interactive, time consuming segment of this journey. Each week your faction's Bookkeeper will give you a new phase quest to complete which requires you to obtain a specific amount Meteorite Fragments and hand them in to your faction's Allod Creator (Andrei Prorabin - Empire or Axiniya Zemlemerova - League) who can be found outside of your faction's Astral Hangar (pictured below). The amount of Meteorite Fragments necessary to fulfill The Creator's demand increases as you advance in your phases.

Fragments are acquired by completing sub-quests given to you on a daily or weekly basis. Each day, a player receives three daily quests to be turned in for one Meteorite Fragment upon completion. If you fail to complete or turn in a quest by the daily reset time, it will take over as your quest for that day. If it is a quest you have not completed or do not wish to complete, you can drop it and pick up the new daily. The quests are categorized by their type (PVP, PVE, and Astral), and one quest of each type can be picked up per day. The total amount of Fragments a player may earn in a seven day period is 28 (21 Fragments from dailies, 7 from weekly).

The Daily Quests and Their Requirements

PVP

  • June Catacombs: This quest can be a blessing or a curse. You need to open the Large (race) or Huge (final room) chest in JC. If you do not have a speedy mount or advanced PVP skills, this will be a bit of a challenge for you. My expert tip? Bribery. I used to give people equivalent amounts of Amalgam Concentrate depending on which chest they would let me open (3 Concentrates for the Large Chest; 6 Concentrates for the Huge), so if you are a level 51 Alchemist, this is an option for you.
  • Melting Isle: This is perhaps the simplest PVP related Phase quest. The only requirement is to open a chest in Melting Isle. That's it! Just one chest! Now, sometimes, even one chest can be a bit of a hassle. If you are having trouble completing this, there are a few suggestions I can offer you: 1. If there is a raid of people from your faction already in MI, ask them if it is okay for you to join simply so you may complete your daily quest. You do not even need to be in the party that opens the chest. So long as you are in the raid and close enough to the chest, your quest will complete upon opening. Most people are willing to do this for you for the sake of not having to deal with a ninja. 2. If there is a raid of people from the opposing faction, you can do a few things here. Ninjaing is always an option of course, however, the path I always found best was to log over to my character on the other side and speak with people in Melting Isle to let them know that I am merely there to grab one chest and leave. It may not always work but I have found people to be very compliant with this tactic.
  • Arena of Death: Allod Creators must assist their team with obtaining more than half of the chests that spawn in AoD. The quality of the chests captured does not matter so long as the team has more than their opponents. Once you have the required amount of chests, the quest will be completed and ready to turn in to the Bookkeeper.
  • Witch's Hollow: The WH phase quest has a fairly direct objective: Win. You have ten chances in one day to complete this quest. Getting it to pop will likely be the biggest challenge.

PVE

  • Tka-Rik Trials: Just when you thought you never had to go back to that horrible cave, BAM! They stick a Meteorite Fragment opportunity in there! Luckily this time you only need to do 10 trials to top off the quest's needs! If trials are still giving you trouble by this point, hop on over to the Cave of Tka-Rik Guide for some insight.
  • The Speed of Thought!: The name of this quest was changed during the 3.05 quest from "Be the First!" to "The Speed of Thought!". This was presumably done to avoid confusion between the title of the quest and the actual objective. Competitors must race in either Kirah or Wandering Isle to get first, second or third place in order to finish this quest. Fairly simple objective and multiple times per day to fulfill makes this daily an easy fragment earned.
  • Kingdom of Elements: Another cakewalk if your timing is right: Kill 50 Elementals in KoE with your Flag of War on. Easy, right?
  • The Cradle: Quite a few people have run into some problems with this one. The quest calls for Desire Incarnates which are earned from completing the 10 dailies in The Cradle. Some of you may be thinking "These quests are easy! What's the problem?!" The problem is your Bookkeeper wants 15 of them, and you can only get 10 per day. Here is my solution: do at least five Cradle dailies per day. You are guaranteed to have this quest 1-2 times per week if you are diligent in completing your daily PVE quests.

Astral

  • Ancient Octulhu: Many people have trouble completing this one, as well. Find an Ancient Octulhu in a Dark Sector of astral and kill it. Not the easiest of any of the phase quests, and it accounts for 3-4 of your Meteorite Fragments per week. Hopefully you find a decent group to assist you with this. if you're Empire on the Yul server, ask HCl if he'll take you. It's his favorite quest.
  • Unexplored Astral: The objective here is the same as the Project Source quest; complete the final boss of an Astral Allod from Sector 6+.
Krafty Tip: This quest alternates with Ancient Octulhu (example: if you have the Ancient Octulhu quest today, you will get Unexplored Astral tomorrow, and Ancient Octulhu the day after tomorrow, etc.). It's a good idea to make sure you save a few keys throughout the week for when this quest needs to be done so that you do not miss out on fragments.

Krafty Tip: All of these quests are on a schedule, so it is important to pay attention to what quests you have on which day in order to prepare yourself accordingly. The quests completely refresh themselves every Thursday but they will continue on the same pattern throughout the week.

Rough Example of Quest Schedule:
Thursday: June Catacombs (PVP), Cave of Trials (PVE), Ancient Octulhu (Astral)
Friday: Melting Isle (PVP), The Speed of Thought! (PVE), Unexplored Astral (Astral)
Saturday: Arena of Death (PVP), Kingdom of Elements (PVE), Ancient Octulhu (Astral)
Sunday: Witch's Hollow (PVP), The Cradle (PVE), Unexplored Astral (Astral)
Monday: June Catacombs (PVP), Cave of Trials (PVE), Ancient Octulhu (Astral)
Tuesday: Melting Isle (PVP), The Speed of Thought! (PVE), Unexplored Astral (Astral)
Wednesday: Arena of Death (PVP), Kingdom of Elements (PVE), Ancient Octulhu (Astral)

Week by Week Phase Information:

The total number of Phases associated with Allod creation is 16 which may be completed in 17 weeks at minimum. An extra week is tacked on due to a recess in phases that lasts 14 days beginning the day you pick up Phase 15. It should also be noted that the day you pick up your phase quest in the current week dictates the day you will be able to pick it up the following week (example: If you pick up Phase 11 on Thursday December 27th, you will not be able to pick up Phase 12 until Thursday January 3rd) even if you hand in the requested amount of Meteorite Fragments early. The amount of Fragments required for quest completion increases as you progress through the phases.
Week 1-4: Requires 10 Meteorite Fragments
Week 5-8: Requires 14 Meteorite Fragments
Week 9-12: Requires 18 Meteorite Fragments
Week 13-16: Requires 22 Meteorite Fragments

Upon collection of the 18 Meteorite Fragments needed for Phase 10, Adventurers will be able to choose the terrain for their personal Allod by speaking with either Andrei Prorabin (Empire) or Axiniya Zemlemerova (League) located outside of their respective faction's Astral Hangar.

When you speak with this person, you will notice additional options added to their Dialogue Box.
Selecting the "Go to observation deck" option will send you to a special area of the game where you can choose the type of Allod you want. You have three types of terrain to choose from; Jungle, Snow, and Desert. Unfortunately, players cannot set foot on their Allods until the 16th Phase is complete.

Private Allod

After completing your 16th Phase quest you will finally be able to go to your Allod! The coordinates will be added to the portal network for you and you will be able to teleport to your Allod from any Portal Keeper or even your Adventurer's Stone!

Most importantly, you get to meet Bob Jackhammer, your adorable Allod Foreman, Portal Keeper and Quest Giver!

Every day Bob provides some work for you to do on your Allod; clean up duty! Private Allods are inexplicably infested with unwanted Astral Demons that you must help dispose of in an effort to maintain proper construction. These quests require you to kill Annoying Squatters (24)/Unwelcome Marauders (6)/Destructive Parasites (2) and rewards you with 100/120/100 gold, respectively (a total of 320 gold which amounts to 1% per day of the amount of gold forked over to reach Greatness). The first two sets of mobs are fairly easy to take out, but the Destructive Parasite can be a little rough for those undergeared or without proper strategy. He hits fairly hard and is pretty tanky. Take necessary steps to prepare yourself for this foe!

Cost: Becoming Great comes with a price. Players are charged 100 gold for each Emblem of Greatness turned in. The final cost is between 26,000-32,000* gold (2,000 gold per week).

It changed to 40 emblem turn-ins per week at the patch 4.0.2 I think. So the cost per week is 4,000 gold if you manage to fulfil it.

We don't have a weekly raid quest for allods construction anymore, starting with patch 5.0
I was expecting it to be changed so that we have to kill a Tep boss or Eclipse Boss, but no.. we just don't get the quest anymore.

It's maybe worth to add a note about making sure to do the quest on the right character.
As of now it is cheaper to do the greatness quest again on 2 incarnations, as to transfer it using the cashhop (~80k gold vs 110k gold)
