Forces
Like every class the mage has a resource which they use to cast skills called forces. There are three types of forces: Fire, Ice and Lightning. Every 30 seconds you can generate up to 3 new forces of each type which you can use to cast spells. For example: Icy Comet requires 2 frost forces wheres Icy Meteor (AOE - area of effect - version of Icy Comet) requires 3 frost forces. If you do not have the forces available, you are unable to cast these abilities. It is essential that you keep track of your forces and use them at the right time. The force tracker ingame looks like this:

I recommend using the addon Magician Helper to keep track of your forces. More information regarding this addon can be found in the addon section of this guide.

Mages can generate new forces during combat with the ability Elemental Wrath ( ). This skill does have a one minute cooldown, so make sure that you keep this skill available for when you really need forces.

Usefull potions in PVP

Some of these potions have variations which can give a better or slighly worse effect.

Weapon
A lot of newer mages aren’t usually sure what weapon to use in PVP. Some wear a 2handed staff others wear a dagger and an offhand. It comes down on personal preference even though i highly recommend using a dagger and offhand for PVP. The reason for this is resistances. Let’s take a look at the items in rare quality from the new astral layers:

As you can see: the offhand adds elemental, devine and nature resistance which is great for PVP. The staff adds some extra faith (which gives you more mana), but other than that the dagger and offhand combination is far better and is very much recommended for PVP.

Precasting
Allods has an unique feature for casters: the oppertunity to precast certain spells. What this means is that you can cast a spell before actually using it. Why is this helpfull? Because skills like Flaming Meteor have a 4 seconds cast time, which is not recommended to cast during combat. Having spells precasted allows you to use them right away instead of having to cast them during combat.

Recommended spells for precasting:
- Dispel
- Flaming Meteor
- Fire Shock (if not enough forces for Flaming Meteor)

Racial spells
Allods Online has a system where every race has their own racial spell. This racial spell is just one skill that is unique to your race. However, in the item shop you can find the item called Page from the book of Secrets. This item costs 900 crystals and will learn you how to use all of the racials for your class. The mage racials are as following:

Personally, i tend to use Astral Aegis and Arcane Mastery the most. Arcane Mastery is great to use before casting surge, since it will increase the vigor for that massive damage by an additional 30%. I use Astral Aegis mostly on warrios and physical paladins before encountering in combat. When they charge me, they will be throwed back and knocked down, which gives me a great advantage early on during combat.

Reincarnation skills
Players can receive additional skills by leveling up a reincarnation. This is a new character that shares the cash shop items with your main character. Leveling a reincarnation to max level grants a bonus for your main character in the form of an additional skill which you can pick from all of your reincarnations. Some skills that are usefull in PVP:

I personally always use Rupture as a reincarnation spell. Not only is the 15% movement speed nice to keep my distance, but the 50% cast time reduction is great for Elemental Surge. This way it will become a 4 seconds cast time to get the full damage. It is also nice to cast Flaming Meteor in combat making it a 2 second cast time.

Stats
Having the right amount of stats is very important to maximize your performance in PVP. Keep in mind that the newest patch got realeased recently and these stats are based on the gear that we can get at this very moment, which is about half epic. These stats might not be as usefull in the later patch, but i will update the guide when we know more of this in a few months. Now, since our main goal in PVP is to burst as much as possible, these stats are aimed at maximizing your burst damage.

This is a basic build for a mage in PVP. Now, we are trying to maximize our burst, but since you’re most likely a newer player, we have to sacrifice a few rubies and talents to add a little bit more survivability. Remember: builds are very personal and there is no set build that does better for everyone. The fun part about this much customization over your character is playing around with the talents and rubies to find something that suits you. However, if you’re looking for a set build to practice the class with or just a basic build to expand, the following will do very well.

Combat as a mage is a bit more complex than other classes. There is no set rotation, since you are very reliant on your forces. So remember: keep track of your forces at all time! Since this build is focussed on burst, try to have a Flaming Meteor precasted. Start off combat by applying the barrier of your choice. It’s recommended to use the appropriate barrier with the class you are facing.

Stone wall:
- Warrior
- Physical paladin
- Scout
- Warden

Elemental Shield:
- Holy paladin
- Mage
- Summoner
- Bard
- Psi
- Healer
- Engineer

When starting combat and you have the forces available, use icy comet with the precasted Flaming Meteor. This will do a good amount of damage. If the enemie is low (less than 25% HP) use shocking grasp to finish him off. Remember that you are a cloth wearing class and you can die in a few shots, so make sure to always keep your distance. Freeze people, use magic tactics to cast while moving and use flash to keep your distance. The mage has many spells to escape close combat encounters and deal massive damage from a safe distance.

Keep in mind: Icy Comet is your main spell and you should use it whenever it’s available. Like i mentioned earlier: there is no set rotation. It’s about inflicting as much damage as possible and prevent yourself from dieing. Use Firebolt and Fire Shock whenever you get blazing speed stacks while kiting and use Conflagate whenever an enemie is getting close or a warrior or paladin charges u. Use icy grave on classes with pets to CC the pets and burst the player down. When you have no forces available and can’t cast while moving, cc the enemie with icy grave or freeze them and start casting Elemental Surge. This skill does massive amount of damage in PVP to the point where it can even kill an enemie in one shot! If you have a psi as your reincarnation, you can use the reincarnation spell Rapture to reduce the cast time Elemental Surge by 50%!

Don’t be afraid to run away when the battle gets heated, you have no forces or you’re just dieing. Freeze the people near you, flash away and go invisible. Wait untill combat ends, reapply barriers and go on a mount to escape the scene, heal up and go back into combat!

The mage is not a class you will master in a day or a week. Since it doesn’t have a set rotation, it is all about practicing and finding strategies that work for you. Using some of the tactics above, you can inflict some serious damage, escape combat and succesfully kite. But it is still up to you to practice as much as you can.

In Allods Online players have the oppertunity to use user created addons to make the gaming experience easier and more fun. There are a few addons that can be very usefull in PVP:

Magician Helper
Magician Helper is an addon that adds a bar to your UI (user interface). This bar will provide you with information about your focrces. Lightning Jolt stack, Blazing Speed stacks and much more. This addon is extremely usefull because it places all the information in one bar. This way you don’t have to look at different spots on your screen to get the information that you need.

Download Magician Helper

Buff Announce
Buff Announce is an addon that serves multiple purposes. First off all it adds the possibility to see what players, monsters or allies are close to you. This can be nice in battlegrounds and dominion so you can call for backup before the enemie reaches your point or you can prepare your shields. For example: if buff announce tells me that a warrior is coming close to me, i can prepare my Stone Wall and Astral Aegis skills.

Besides that, it will add a marker to your selected target. This way it is easy for you to keep track of the position of your target. It also gives information about your target like if they have patronage 4 or 5, their gearscore and their runes. This addons is not free, but very recommended!

Hello my name is Yunab. I’m a mage from the guild Monsters Inc. I’ve been playing this game for over three years now and my favorite aspect of this game is by far the Player versus Player (PVP) content. In this guide I will share my knowledge of the mage class in the PVP aspect of Allods Online. This guide is mostly aimed at newer players who are not completely sure yet how exactly the mage works in PVP.

The mage is a class with massive damage and great cc abilities. The roll of a mage in PVP is to be a ranged damage dealing monster. The mage has some of the highest burst (meaning you deal a lot of damage in a short period of time) in the entire game. The weakness of the class lays in the defensive side. In this guide I will be showing you how to play the class in PVP. We will cover things like builds, stats, skills, rotations, hints and much more!

With the 5.0 patch gear came a gear reset and everyone is on equal grounds. I’ve been doing a lot of PVP as a mage and I can say that this class is probably the most fun to play. The amount of damage a mage can do is insane and it’s a thrill to go in, do your burst, retreat and repeat! I hope that this guide will help you become a better mage in PVP and enjoy this side of the game as much as I do!

Usefull potions in PVP
Astral Potion of Fast Magical Power
This is a potion that nstantly restores 7709 mana. It has a 2 minute cooldown. This potion is made with alchemy.
Astral Potion of Fast Healing
This is a potion that nstantly restores 255714 HP (health points). It has a 2 minute cooldown. This potion is made with alchemy.
Astral Potion of Fast Restoration
This is a potion that nstantly restores 50% HP (health points) and 40% mana. It has a 5 minutes cooldown. This potion is made with alchemy and shares a cooldown with wardens balms.
Common potion of Invisibility
This potion makes you invisible for 15 seconds. It has a 10 minutes cooldown. This potion is made with alchemy.
Strong Potion of Profeciency
This potion increases your profeciency by 5 for 30 minutes. The duration of the potion can be increased by wearing a guild tabard. The added duration depends on the level of your guild. This potion can also be crafted for other stats. However, only one can be active at a time.\

Some of these potions have variations which can give a better or slighly worse effect.

Astral Aegis
Protects an ally with a shield that activates on a physical atack from 10 yard range. Inflicting astral damage and throwing the atacker back 15 yards followed by a knock down.

Focused Mind
Prevents spellcasting interruption for 2 seconds.

Astral Arrow
Releases a bolt of astral damage that does decent damage and knocks the target down.

Vigor
Vigor is a main stat that increases your damage and healing. All equipment and glyphs add vigor and there is no real way to increase this stat other than to upgrade as much gear as possible. The higher the vigor the better.

Proficiency
This is our main stat for burst damage. Just like vigor, this stat increases damage and healing. However, unlike vigor this stat is not added to every piece of gear. Try to get proficiency as high as possible preferably over 100.

Determination
This is a stat that increases damage when you’re being hit. You can see your determination in the bar under your mana. This stat is not really important in PVP, since you want to kite people and avoid taking damameg in PVP. Ignore this stat.

Brutality
This stat increases your damage as the enemy’s HP (health points) get lower. For some classes this is the main stat, but not for us. Since we are trying to maximize our burst and we use this burst to start combat (when the enemy has 100% HP), this will not increase our burst. Focus on proficiency, but do increase brutality in small pieces. I recommend having this stat at about 20 to 25 at lower gear.

Anger
This stat increases the chance to deal wound complexity to your enemiy. Don’t worry about this in lower gear, but keep in mind that this might be usefull in later gear. I recommend getting this at around 15 for the time being.

Luck
This stat increases the chance to do critical damage. Taking this stat comes down to personal preference, but it is recommended to take this stat at about 20.

Stamina
Stamina increases your HP (health points). Like vigor, this stat gets automatically added with every piece of gear and glyph. The higher the stat, the more HP, the better.

Vitality
This stat increases your HP (health points). Like proficiency, this effect won’t be added on every piece of equipment. I recommend getting this as high as possible around 80 to 100 would be fine for lower gear.

Willpower
This stat will give you immunity to CC (control effect). The higher this stat, the more this effect will occur. This is a very usefull stat for PVP and it’s recommended to get this as high as possible.

Bloodlust
This stat heals you you for a small bit every hit you do. This stat can be very nice during AOE (area of effect) and is very much based on personal preference. Personally, i don’t like using this stat too much.

Tenacity
This stat decreases the wounding rate before wound complexity emerges. This stat is not very important for now, but that might change later in the patch.
Faith
This stat increases your mana. The more mana, the more spells you can use before you run out of mana. Get this stat as high as possible.

Build
This is a basic build for a mage in PVP. Now, we are trying to maximize our burst, but since you’re most likely a newer player, we have to sacrifice a few rubies and talents to add a little bit more survivability. Remember: builds are very personal and there is no set build that does better for everyone. The fun part about this much customization over your character is playing around with the talents and rubies to find something that suits you. However, if you’re looking for a set build to practice the class with or just a basic build to expand, the following will do very well.

Talents

Firebolt
Throws a fiery arrow that deals 58317 damage.

Ice flow
A skill that slows and does minor damage. A great way to slow people even at rank 1.

Shocking grasp
Infflicts 18051 damage. Deals 100% more damage if enemies are below 25% HP.

Meteor/Flaming meteor
Inflicst 159661 damage to all enemies without a 10 yard radius. Recommended to have precasted as a part of your burst.

Flash
Teleports you 35 yard forward. Any obstacle will interrupt your movement.

Reflections
Creates 5 illusions of you that last for 15 seconds. Incoming damage has a chance to hit an illusion instead of you.

Seal of health III
Increases the HP, mana and energy of all party members by 30%.

Elemental surge
AOE (area of effect) burst spell with an 8 second cast time that deals massive damage. The longer you chanell the spell the more damage it does.

Fire shock
Inflicts 75202 direct damage and deals 25704 damage every 2 seconds for 6 seconds.

Stone barrier/Stone wall
Surrounds you with 7 stone barriers that absorb 75882 physical damage each. Cannot be used at the same time as Elemental Shield

Icy comet
Homimg missile that inflicts 150405 direct damage. Can be used even if the target is not in line of sight. This is your main skill for burst damage.

Elemental shield
Surrounds you with 5 elemental barriers that absorbs 106526 fire, frost, lightning, acid, holy,s hadow or astral damage. Canot be used at the same time as Stone barrier/Stone wall.

Icy grave
Stuns the target with an avalanche of ice for a period of time.

Fire wall
Set up a wall of fire at the chosen destination for 20 seconds. Fears anyone that steps into the fire wall and does damage to over time. Very usefull spell with a 6 minute cooldown.

Dispel
Remove one usefull magical efffect from the target.

Swag
Killing an enemy is great. But do you know what’s even better? Killing your enemy with a lot of swag! Allods Online offers players the oppertunity to customize the look of their character with many costumes! Here are a couple of suggestions to increase your swag as a mage!

GORLUXOR’S TOWER OF EPIC SWAG

This old school set still does the trick. You can get this costume set in the Gorluxor’s Tower raid. The last 3 bosses drop costume boxes. Open it on a mage and you can receive this great costume. You will receive either the blue version or the yellow versions. recommended cape: feathery cape or guild tabard!

VERY DEAD CITY, MUCH MAGE, SUCH WOW

This set got released in the 3.0 patch: Game of Gods. You can receive this full set by opening a costume box from the Dead City. These boxes drop from the last boss in each wing.

NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE, BUT SWAG

This set is quiet possibly the best set to use in PVP. It’s so ugly, that everyone will avoid you. You can get this amazing costume set in the Tep’s Pyramid raid. The last two bosses drop boxes that will give this set when opened on a mage.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading my guide. I hope it helped you understanding the mage better. If you have any questions do’n’t hesitate and just ask. You can do that by leaving a comment in this topic, pming me ingame or writing a personal message on the forums.

I've been playing mage since day 1, and let me just say that even though you've only been playing a mage for about a month; you've got most of it down packed!

Really liked how well you explained how we PvP as mages

This is a proper and easy to follow guide which making it look good.But i didnt find this build good for pvp for defensive reasons below;

  • Elemental Shield and Stone Wall should be r3
  • Reflections should have Snow Dam rubies (at least 2 if short of rubies)
I cant imagine having a pvp build without these. We are already squishy and we need all defensive support.Since this build is for begginers, they have so little chance to survive vs an average warrior in battlegrounds.Just 1-2 hits by a warrior will be enough to kill.
  • Lethal Shock rubies for Shocking Grasp: well its not a bad idea but you can kill someone who has last drops of health with just monitoring its health better and cast Shocking grasp with better timing.Shocking Grasp have already Lightning Jolt rubies to reach Portal Skill,do you really need more investment on Grasp in fire-frost build? (could invest these rubies on smthng more useful, since survivebility of build is already weak.)
  • Icy Grave should be r3: Yes 1 second of this skill is so important in pvp. While casting it for 3 seconds u may get CCed as well. With casttime reducing rubies it has 2,1 sec,on r3 it would be 1,4 secs and it's really big difference for me in pvp.
This build looks more like "throw up all your burst and then count 3 seconds to die" cuz lack of survivebility for pvp.Of course these are my opinions no offence please.Yet presentation is really good.Good luck on PMB. :)

While i agree that these things are nice to have, there simply aren't enough talent points and rubies available to pick everything that you want. Like i mentioned in my guide: builds are based on personal preference and this is just a set build from which newer players can have a set build to play around with. This is not the build i use myself for pvp, but something made for newer players that is mostly focused on burst. Lethal shock rubies could very well be replaced by something that gives more survivability if the player desires that. Like i said: there is no good or bad build, just whatever you feel comfterable with.
