Quest saying "Failed" when completed

I got a friend started on this game, so I'm going through the early quests again, and ran into a problem. On the Empire quest "The Shamans' Test of Strength", we killed all the targets and we both got objective complete, but my friend got "Quest failed" shortly after and couldn't complete it, and got "Quest Failed" multiple times when trying it again. Anyone have any ideas?
