Revisiting after 7 years (have a lot to say)

Hey all.

Last time I played was around mid 2013. I started with the Gipat patch around summer 2010. I played both League and Empire. The League was the first faction I tried, stayed there until around early 2012, then moved over to Empire from there until mid 2013; so about a year and a few months for each sides.

Recently I was realizing that Allods was still alive, suffice to say it surprised me. But it's also turning 10 years-old (at least from my perspective since I started in 2010). I thought "ok, let's see if I can get back in". I got some help from My.Games support and got my account info and login back. Lo and behold my character was still there hehe. So that was last week, and I've been playing a few hours a day just to level up and sort of get the "feels" back from this game. It's just leveling and I don't think I intend to actually do any end-game at all. It's mostly revisiting for nostalgia's sake and questing to get to level cap and that should be it.

But I noticed, of course, how much the game changed. Well some parts of it did, some didn't at all.

I'm going over a few points, some of which are questions; you guys are welcome to comment or answer if you want:

1) While questing from Level 51 (which was level cap when I left in 2013), and now level 71, I've noticed that there seems to be no such thing anymore as a "Dungeon" like there used to be. You know, something along the lines of XAES on Empire side, or Oreshek Fortress (or however that one was called) over on the League side.

If I recall correctly at some point we sort of had to form a party, get the Dungeon quests done and get at least some gear from said Dungeon before moving on to the next zone. Now everything seems to be very straightforward, sort of "Stay in the main game world" gameplay without having to access a separate instance for a party. Is that the case now all the way to level 90?

2) Now, related to the above (in terms of party quests), the game Population. I did expect it to be lower. But honestly not that low (but maybe I should have expected that much really, after 7 years). Not necessarily in terms of end-game and Max Level characters. But in terms of people questing around at various levels. During the past week, starting with my Level 51 character, I encountered maybe 6 or 7 persons max, 2 or 3 of them were on the League side.

It's pretty much impossible to form parties in questing zones. Now at Level 71 in my Quest Log there's a total of 16 Quests with a blue circle icon, which are quests designed to be done via a party. I cannot complete them solo even if I am +20 Levels above them. I did try, believe me. Not for the Experience since at this point it's useless. But simply to try the 'Feasibility' of doing it. I can't. I have Level 70 or 71 gear, and still can't drop 10% HP on a single Level 55 NPC that is related to that quest.
I have no idea how they designed this but it seems like they aren't aware how low the population is at this point. They should dramatically reduce the difficulty of those quests in order for a solo player to not have to skip them entirely. I'll get to why exactly in the point below.

3) So to continue on my line of thoughts from the above point, I reached a situation at exactly Level 69 where I was going through 'main' quests (the ones with the circle icons, related to World Mysteries and main quest lines I think) and had to pick up a new quest. Turned out that the manuscript quest icon above the NPC's head was folded and couldn't be picked up, because I wasn't Level 70 yet.

Problem is... I had done every single solo'able quests prior to that point in every zones possible. And yes, I checked properly. There were absolutely no solo quests available anymore. I still had about 4 and a half bars of Experience to get before getting Level 70. So I actually had to grind Level 69 mods in the area of the NPC in question in order to reach Level 70, and then proceed with taking on that quest.
Which brings me back to the 16 or so Party Quests I couldn't do in the previous areas all the way to level 51. It's too much Experience left behind.
I know this will fall on deaf ears and it's not like 7 years later those quests would suddenly be redesigned but there you have it. Party Quests are too numerous for the start, and they're way too difficult considering they cannot be completed even 20 Levels later. There's no point even having Party quests when there's a maximum of maybe 1 other player questing in the area when you do during an entire week's worth of play.

4) Which now brings me to the Raid Quests.
It's similar to the above. They cannot be done. Not only are they designed as Raids, but they can't be done solo with NPC Mercenaries either.

Now considering - once more - the overall population in this game, my simple questions is: Why?

Level 55 Raid? I would agree, only if Level 55 would be Level Cap and end-game. It's not. It's questing now. How am I supposed to find a Raid for a Level 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 quest that nobody currently doing end-game would care about?
Suggestion: Make them possible to be done with NPC Mercs as a party. Then again I know... won't happen. But still, just commenting. It doesn't make sense.

5) Now, outside of that questing stuff, I've noticed something regarding spell casting and how visually (and physically) the game feels different and I'll explain.

So back when I played, if I recall correctly, there were 3 types of spells in this game; or rather 3 'ways' to cast spells. The first and pretty typical one was simply casting a spell with a cast time to it. So the character would animate the casting part until the spell would go off. Fine, it's still there. Alright, then we had Instant Cast spells, pretty self-explanatory and it's still there (say something like Particle of Light on the Healer, which is the class I'm playing so that's the example I can give).

However, there was a third one to this game, which I never knew how to call it except to say that you were "Holding" on to the spell after casting it, and before 'releasing' it. I'm sure the veterans reading this know what I'm talking about. Again, using the Healer as an example, something like the lightning strike spell, Heavenly Smite, would be 'cast' (so the character would animate the casting part of it) BUT... then once the casting portion of the animation was done you would "hold" the spell in question in one hand, and on the skill bar you would see clearly with some effect that the spell would now be 'ready for release' which would then make it essentially an Instant Cast spell if you were to press the skill key again on a target.
But here's the thing. Not only those sort of spells seem to be gone entirely (correct me if I'm wrong), but what I noticed is that I'm not seeing a single character anymore moving around in the game while holding a spell in their hand. And the reason why I say this is because - as mentioned when I introduced this point above - purely on a visual sense this game was very different because of that back when I played it. In other words, you would see the majority of characters moving around (from low levels to level cap) holding on to some spell that would belong to their class, with only a FEW exceptions that didn't necessarily have those sorts of spells like... say Paladins maybe or Warriors I don't think had those spells (or maybe they did but I can't recall).

So how different it was is rather mind blowing to me. It's probably the first thing I noticed when I entered Yasker's Tower for the first time in 7 years, not only are characters hyper sci-fi with all sorts of effects on them with costumes and lightning effects of all types and following pets around. But NO ONE is holding a spell in their hand as they move around anymore. At least not the spell caster classes (Mages, Healers, Summoners, etc). It was quite a striking difference to me.
Anyway so... did they really get rid of that sort of spell casting in the game? You cannot 'prepare' a spell that requires casting time ahead of time by holding on to it anymore? Essentially - as I mentioned above - that sort of spell casting was done in order to 'prepare' a first Instant Cast upon pressing the skill key. So you would ensure that you wouldn't need to "cast" it the first time you'd press the button whenever you were to fight in PvE or PvP.

6) Now, Mana, it's gone. I
can see this much on my Healer. But it doesn't seem to be there at all
anymore. Was there some sort of major redesign philosophy behind this?
I'm just curious. I mean now that I've been questing for about 20 levels
I got used to this Fanaticism function that replaces the Mana bar to
some degree. Of course there's more to it like the Determination thing
(damaging more over time as I accumulate more or it, or something like
that... which is a bit of a weird mechanic but it's probably better than
just having a depleting Mana bar).

The
only thing I remember about Mana back then was that I constantly needed
it in PvE and had to make very frequent stops by using Mirra with
Martyr's Salvation which would then serve as an indirect source of Gold
loss since I had to buy said Mirr very regularly because I knew I would
run out of Mana all the time after 2 or 3 fights with trash mobs in
dungeons. The point being that Mana at the time seemed more of a
detriment than anything. Not because it's Mana, but because it wasn't
balanced well enough in terms of amounts required to perform and execute
skills (I.E., the Mana costs were too high).

I
would say from my perspective, at least for the Healer (can't speak for
other classes right now) this new Fanaticism system and the absence of
Mana seems, overall, to be a positive change.

7)
By the way is just me or is "Mirra" a new name? I swear it was called
something like "Myrrh" at the time (correct me if I'm wrong).

I
also revisited the League side during this week by making a completely
new character there. I just wanted to see the starting zone. And I
noticed something weird that relates all the way back to my point above
about the Party Quests. The first "Party Quest" I still clearly remember
from way back on the Evermeet Isle was that "Soul" thing that stays at
the top of a small terrain elevation near the edge of the allod in
question.

At the time we pretty much had
to form a party to beat that thing. But now... it's soloable. I don't
get it lol. They redesigned THAT quest to be soloable instead. But
they're leaving TONS of quests later on that require a party still and
should be soloable now due to the low population issue.

9)
Related to the music, here on the veterans will remember this,
probably. I mean it depends on when this was changed; surely it was done
some time after I left in 2013 because it was intact back then when I
played. So on the League side when we finish the first zone, with take
the bubble transportation thing (June ruins I think?) next to the Elf
NPC and we are transported to a very small allod where we have to take
the first Astral ship there, and then move to the main allod of Kania.

What
I still, to this day, 100% remember is the absolutely epic music track
that used to play when taking that first Astral ship to Kania. I still
have it somewhere in my favorites. It's one of the most beautiful piece
of the original Allods Online soundtrack and it's still stuck in my head
to this day.

But it's GONE now, WTF.
lol. Instead the music that plays there now is super boring and doesn't
bring about any sense of epic adventure and mystery, or any feeling
that you're in an incredible fantasy universe.

Anyway,
I'm just glad that the Nezebgrad music at least is intact. Yasker's
Tower music is the same and that's perfect, please don't let them touch
that one.

On a side note, the Main Menu
music is completely different too. I don't hate it, it's ok. It's
probably reflecting new game events with the new story stuff. But I do
notice it's different. I can remember the original track that played on
the main menu but I wouldn't know the name of the track. It was
basically the "main" Allods Online theme but the current track right now
is different (but it's not bad).

10) Now, regarding the whole League Vs Empire part
of this game. Back then when I started on League, which was around mid
2010 as I said, the whole game dynamic was based off of how much those
two factions were constantly at war with each other. It was the main
'driving force' and the main goal for PvP as well. But it was very much
the focus on most of the game's quests and story at least up to a
certain point, until Demons started to play a bigger role.

But for PvP, at least, it was the main thing.

And
the reason why I bring this up is because to this very day I still
remember something that kept on happening at least once or twice a day,
maybe more (I just wasn't staying in one spot all day long so I wouldn't
have known if it was happening way more than that). And that is when I
was leveling up my very first League character when I started and had to
move to the main city (Novograd? I think it's called, haven't been
keeping League names of locations very well) I would see Imperial
players, sometimes solo'ing, sometimes in small groups, venturing on the
main Kania allod and, sometimes, would attempt to enter the city and
fight other players there (or just kill NPCs in their way).

At
first, given that Allods Online was actually my first ever MMORPG on
PC, I thought that those 'enemy players in red in my city' where there
because they had to do some quests. How innocent was I? lol. The beauty
of just starting with MMORPGs huh? Yeah so I learned sooner rather than
later that most of them were just doing that for fun, or at least, were
trying to get some PvP-related credits / currencies or PvP-related
points of some kind.

But here's the thing....

Regardless of the reasons,
just seeing players of the rival faction coming to YOUR territory, heck
your main city, and rampaging against NPCs and/or players of your own
faction alike was giving this VERY good vibe of "We Are at War".
It wasn't "just for quests", it wasn't just for appearances in the story
and written in NPC texts by quest givers. It was REAL lol. I mean dude,
the feeling back then was amazing.

In
fact, I can recall one particular name, although I might be missing 1 or
2 letters, but one specific Imperial player at the time used to be a
nemesis for Novograd.

Veterans correct me if I'm wrong if you do remember that name: Minnie

The
character was a female Imperial healer (well, Inquisitor), at a time
when the Healer class was plain and simple nearly impossible to take
down in a 1 Vs 1 situation. That player (he? or she? I never found out)
used to sneak around the main city VERY often, for at least 1 full month
or more, back when I was maybe around Levels between 15 to all the way
around 35+ that 'guy' (or gal) would often just get to the main square
right at the base of the stairs leading into Aidenus' Tower and take on
literally everything moving there that she could attack.

Sometimes it would take 10+ players around to finally bring the mess to an end.

But
you know what? I LOVED IT! lol. Again, it gave me the impression that
nowhere was really safe, that the "war" between League and Empire in
full swing and that there were maybe even some Incentives to PvP that
way that I myself back then was fully unaware of.

Which brings me to the main point of this paragraph: Is that stuff still happening today?

Obviously, due to the low population level already the answer should be 'No'.

But
I suppose I should ask this: Was there ever any proper 'Incentives'
game-play wise, and in terms of actual Rewards, for taking the time and
risks to attack the main city of the rival faction?

For
example, was Yasker or Aidenus ever giving actual gear if killed? Was
there ever any sort of Weekly reward for taking down the rival faction's
leader as a Guild raid (or party)? For example, raising some sort of
Reputation points that would only be possible to achieve by killing
specific NPCs of the rival faction?

I guess what I'm trying to say here is: Is the League Vs Empire "war" in the current state of the game completely gone?

Anyway,
that's probably one part of the 'old' Allods Online I'll always
remember. Heck I still remember seeing my first ever enemy player on the
Empire side too, was going at the entrance for XAES when some Elf
player was around killing NPCs to actually clear the way for us low
level Empire players. See, even that sort of stuff could happen and it
was out of nowhere and fun. The best part was some other low level
person in the party I was trying to get to do XAES tried to attack that
Elf and couldn't do anything lol, and the guy in question was like "WTF
is this?!". Haha.

Good times indeed.

11) Ok, character model sizes.

What
happened? Is it just me or are some characters REALLY big now?
Especially female models. Is that some side effect from a new type of
gear or something? I swear to God I didn't see that sort of size in the
character creation when I checked again this week. I do assume it's
related to end-game gear but jeebus man some of you guys are really huge
now.

12) Now, well, it's been 7 years. I have a lot of good
memories from this game. And I do notice some Guilds, and specific names
are still around!

Ascendancy: You guys are still there! Nice! However, your rivals on the League side aren't Mercenaries anymore are they? I don't think I've seen them so far unless I missed them. Or have they changed their name?

PioPico:
Incredible. I don't know what to say, you're one of the first names I
memorized on the forums. I actually noticed you this week in the Yaser
Tower. Do you also play on the League side?

Nayrb:
Whut? You STILL play? Original player? New player using the character?
I'm just always surprised to see such veteran names now. If you played
this game for the past 7 years and never really quit, now you sir can be
called dedicated, or too passionate lol. On a side note, Nayrb, I
remember your name from all the way back when I used to play with The Silent Warriors guild on League and we once had some Astral guild confrontation against the Redemption guild, which is I believe the guild you used to be in at the time (correct me if I'm wrong).

Finally,
one name I'm trying to remember from Ascendancy, he was very well known
and actually a pretty good person; but well known because he basically
had everything lol. I can't recall the name but I remember he was
playing a male Orc Warrior. And if I recall correctly he did one day
post on the forums about the fact that he was a... doctor? In real life?
Something like that? I'm not sure, it's been many years but I still
remember that guy because basically his name would be mentioned every
now and then either in World chat, general Chat or Guild chat.

Anyway,
it's been a pretty interesting roller coaster with this game at the
time. I had good times. But just like it is with most MMORPGs (if not
all of them) I think the best part of Allods Online for me was plain and
simple the people I met there.

Now I'm
just questing for old times' sake but I'm sort of glad that this game
keeps on going. I just wish it would be actually advertised. There seems
to be next to no efforts out there to make this name "known again"
(don't mistake it with "great again" lol). I mean sure the Subscription
model is there now, it's probably helping a little bit. But the reality
is that this game seems to be separated in 4 different small groups,
instead of being combined in 2 groups that would be at least a little
bigger.

First "group" is 2 servers under
the independent game launcher (1 P2P server, 1 F2P server), and the 2nd
group is the "Steam" group, which if I'm not wrong also has its own, but
separated 2 servers doing the same thing. So has it ever occurred to
My.Games that perhaps merging the Steam servers with the independent
non-Steam servers would at least be a start to increase the game's
population? Because when I contacted My.Games to recover my account (to
even play this again after 7 years I had to remember my login stuff) I
realized that I started in the wrong spot by downloading the Steam
version of the game. It's only then I realized that both versions of the
game were actually separated and their own thing. I think that's not
the way to go but whatever.

My "wish" for
this game is at the very least to see if advertised, be it on Steam
(occasional front page appearances whenever there's a Patch or content
update, or whenever there's sales for the Subscription method) or on
some known MMORPG-related web sites. Put some advertising money out
there to put this game back on front pages, so to speak, make people
aware it's still active for a start; at least for the 'oldies' who
started 10, 9 or 8 years ago.

Most of
those guys think this game is actually dead now, as in not even active
anymore since the very name gPotato itself isn't even related to this
anymore. And for the potential newcomers, make them understand that it's
not because it's "this old" that it's not a beautiful game at least to
some extent lol. I mean sure it could use a graphics overhaul (btw, why
didn't this happen after 7 years is beyond me but whatever, it's still
sort of 'ok' today I guess). But more importantly, and this is probably
the most important part, that it's not because it's Tab-Targetting that
it's not fun and responsive. The combat in this game is frankly not bad
at all for this old of a combat mechanic.

Anyway,
so, yeah, it lacks advertising and 'screen time' so to speak on gaming
news web sites. When I checked I believe last week as I was preparing my
download of the Steam version it said that there were something like
300 players max in this game (concurrent players statistics on Steam).
But that was in June 2016 lol. Right now do you want to know the stats
in 2020? We're talking about about 40 to 50 concurrent players.

I
don't know how the independent version of this game is doing though.
From my observations it seems to be slightly more active and that's
understandable since most people who started with this version stayed
with it too over the years. That's probably why making a "Steam merger"
(or the other way around) between all the servers (of the same type,
that is) wouldn't be worth the trouble, because the Steam version's
population is too low. But then again, as I said... this game is being
left in the dark and has zero advertising going for it. Couple that with
the "MMORPG drought" that we've been going through for the past 4 or 5
years and there you have the best recipe for a game to be ignored.

Still, I sincerely wish the best for this game.

So yeah, good to come back for the nostalgia :)

Each old level cap has some raid. Usually they are finished in bulk at level 90 for world mysteries. While leveling up to level 86 now you ave access to "low level astral" though usually there is problem gathering party as it require full party of 6 ppl with proper composition. There is also "Time Void" dungeon which can be done with party or solo filling empty party spots with free mercenary npcs - tank, heal, dps. This one give some gear and tons of exp providing fastest way of leveling.

Leveling up to 90 from scratch takes around a week or 2 with limited time with use of Time Void dungeon. With some dedication it can be done in 2-3 days. All "party level" mobs can be killed solo with 5-6 levels advantage. Ones designed for raids require more and sometimes proper tactics. At level 70+ you can already use endgame gear instead of quest ones. Some basic can be obtained for free in astral academy and it increase power really much. Mostly because it has "special stats" which are required for most of builds to work properly. Not to mention up to 50 times raw dmg values increase compared to gear you can get from leveling.

At level 80+ almost all of them can be soloed. Usually they are done at 90 to save time. Right now there are 2 raids that cannot be completed solo because of mechanics that require more characters: Frontier raid where you need 2 ppl to reach second boss without counting on big luck and Otherverse where you need 2 ppl to reach second boss and 8+ for last one.
3 more bosses in Battle of Gods and Bestiary raids that require more ppl on hard mode for costumes.

(...)or rather 3 'ways' to cast spells(...)

There were 4 and all 4 are still present.
1 - Spells required certain time to cast.
2 - Instacast spells
3 - Channeled spells - spell takes several seconds of casting dealing dmg several times during this time. If you stop casting spell ends not dealing all possible dmg.
4 - Precast spells - ones you can "cast and keep on hand". Example of such spell on healer class is Paralysis.
You won't see ppl running with spells precasted because it is pointless. Most fights is based on instacast and channeled spells. Most mechanics use some skills to reduce cast time or cooldown on main dps ones.

Quoted

6) Now, Mana, it's gone.

It is gone years ago. Each class has it's own "class resource". Some skills produce it, some consume. Usually highest dmg ones consume it. For healer for example main stat is 250-300 double attack to increase fanaticism production to increase dmg and remove cast time from some spells.

All "party level" mobs are this way. As mentioned before - it is problem with wrong stats on gear as leveling one doesn't have special stats and you can't us full potential of most skills without them. Plus you usually level up faster than collect gear and it is permanently outdated.

Thanks for taking the time to reply (and to read my wall of text).

I joined a leveling Guild yesterday, and the leader explained a lot of things regarding what's new and so on. So it helped a lot.

I did note the main points you bring:

- Time Void dungeons for faster leveling and some gear, etc. I'll check it out.

- Special Stats on new type of gear helps a lot. I've actually seen that sort of gear given by some NPCs when I was questing around. I have equipped that new gear and now I do notice I am a lot stronger. But I do see levels on the gear are way above my character level; not sure why. For example I was level 72 when an NPC gave a chest with a full set of gear and the 'item level' itself was something like level 83, and I could equip it all. I was pretty much killing every mobs in the zone in the following quests with 1 or 2 hits after that lol. Also, some quests (before and after that NPC gave me the chest) rewarded me with Scrolls that can increase the quality of specific gear (at specific levels) from Common (Green) to Rare (Blue). So now I'm starting to see those new special stats that didn't exist back when I played the game.

- Regarding Party Quest and Raid Quests yeah now I have a better idea on how I can do them. Actually a couple of hours after I made my post here on the forums I leveled up a bit and got that new special gear I mentioned from that NPC. After that I went to a previous zone to try again and I was able to solo a few of the Party Quests I couldn't do before, just because of that new gear I got. So it did help a lot. As for the Raid Quests now that I am in the leveling Guild I might be able to get them done eventually, I'll ask the leader about it.

- Character sizes, yeah, with the new armors and sort of "Exo skeleton" things makes everything look very big. I did assume it was coming from gear and new effects from end-game stuff. The leader of the leveling guild showed me some of those effects yesterday, pretty flashy stuff going on in this game now.

- About the Pre-Cast spells (that's the word for it!), you say it was pointless to hold them in hand but I assure you it provided a different visual style to the game when looking at characters moving around holding a spell in their hand, it also modified their running animation since they had to run with one ball of energy in one hand. It also had various particle effects and colors depending on which skill was held. It was visually very pleasing and made it one of the 'authentic' Allods Online visuals that distinguished this game from other MMORPGs. It wasn't just about practicality, but about artistic impressions and visuals. Then again I'm a sucker for little details like that and visual effects so I was surprised (and disappointed) when I realized it wasn't there anymore (I mean visually, even if the Pre-Cast spells still exist, they aren't held in hand anymore by the characters). It's not a "major" loss but it's noticeable coming from someone like me who happened to play the game at a time when this visual effect was the norm and very common in the game. Anyone who started playing Allods Online after this was removed wouldn't feel this way and that's normal.

So anyway, still making some leveling progress, Level 75 now. I'll get to Level Cap at some point and from there I'll take everything with a giant grain of salt. I'm doing all this mostly due to nostalgia more than anything else. I'm just happy to see Allods Online is still alive honestly. I didn't always like this game, back then it frustrated me on many aspects near the time when I decided to leave. But 7 years later I'm thinking about all of that with a smile on my face. And I'm glad to just be able to revisit the game for old times' sake.

The worst thing of all is they removed the elven-lingerie with the garterbelts. Since you joined the game earlier than me there is a good chance you seen / remember it. It is a shame they did this.

it is also true it is a pity they removed the precast-animations

regarding advertisement: they already did something with steam and advertising there

in not too distant time we will get patch 11.1 which will alter special stats so things will change again, hopefully for the better. currently, healing in PVP is kinda broken and everyone dies far too fast except paladin + scout

Oh yes, I absolutely do remember. Well at least I remember the famous Elven 'pink' dress that even Males could wear, and it was hilarious.
In fact... anecdote time!

I can't recall his name, unfortunately, but a pretty funny end-game player used a Male Kanian character with that pink dress (which "normally" goes on a lady, especially elves) and played as a Mage. What he used to do was to go over on the Empire side to Nezebgrad and sneak around to intercept some low level players trying to quest around the city. He didn't kill them. Oh no.
What he did was to use one of those harmless Mage ice spells (can't recall the name) which encased the target in some ice 'block' and immobilized the target for a very long time (especially if not attacked after). So once his poor victim was trapped he'd simply get very close and start dancing in front of them with that dress on. I know this because I just followed him one day and saw what he did. I have to say that gave me some of the best moments from this game. I couldn't help but think of those poor potential newcomers to the game questing around this giant Steampunk city only to suddenly freeze on the spot for seemingly no reason and out of nowhere, only to be approached by a bald Kanian male dressed like an elven lady forcing you to watch him dance.
I wonder how many potential new players immediately quit after that, haha! Now if only I could find pictures of that pink elven dress, but I'm sure it's easy to find. However, they really removed those garter belt dresses for elves? That's weird, considering there's full frontal nudity on those Centaur females in one of the zones I've been in recently, and there's some female Bird NPC thingy in some forested zone which also is pretty much naked with minimal attire on. Allowing Males to wear female elven dresses, nudity on anthropomorphized animal NPCs, and having some Twerk dance animations for the female Aoidoi race which I've seen recently... but no garter belt costumes? Yeah, seems like a pretty random removal.
As for the advertising on Steam, I must have missed it, because I didn't see any. If they did, it must have been very brief. They should also try to make MMORPG-related web sites talk about the game more. The thing is the Subscription version of the game has a pretty decent price to it, actually I'd say it's a pretty low price. That itself should help tremendously. I mean it's what... about $7 or $8 for one month (converted in Canadian dollars). There's MMORPGs I'd consider less fun than Allods that would cost me anywhere between $15 to $20 per month to play them. So I think already Allods has the advantage there, price is good.
They could create a new trailer for that upcoming 11.1 patch you speak of. And use that trailer to describe the main 'selling points' of the game. And at the end of the trailer notify would-be newcomers (or old veterans watching it whom might be coming back) that the subscription model is very affordable. In fact I would recommend My.Games to offer a full free week during a limited period of time, say for about two weeks, if you register a new account or if you log-in on an existing account, you have access to a Subscription server of your choice for free for a full week (7 days of play), and at the end of the period everything is saved and you just have to pay your subscription to continue if you want.
Something like that anyway. It would help, and might create a bit of a word-of-mouth effect later on. Just an idea.
For now I do enjoy the questing, I must say they really pushed this game to new levels with the new quests. It gets pretty complex sometimes (at least as far as this game is concerned) compared to how it used to be back when I played it. Now we have actual decisions to make in some quests (good for role-players), sneak around bases, travel back in time, playing as new models (I.E turning into a demon, etc). The story now is also very... VERY complex and frankly well thought-out with the Gods, Demons, Architects, Leper (or whatever the name is) and the Darkness stuff, the whole going back in time thing (especially Lab 13 part was amazing, brought back a lot of memories), etc. And cutscenes! Incredible.
Which is why I think this MMORPG, under the Subscription model, would be very good for newcomers who don't mind Tab-Targetting combat, because outside of that this game has it all really as an MMORPG (again I refer to the best situation which would be a well-populated Subscription server, not the Pay-to-Win one hehe).
However, last point, concerning costumes. Maybe they removed the garter belt ones but I checked the wardrobe now and the raw number of costumes available today is astonishing. It's probably 30x more than I remember.

Oh a fellow ex-TSW?!

However, your name ' Meiaduziward ' doesn't ring a bell, unfortunately. Were you around the period I played on League? That was from mid 2010 to around early 2012. I believe I joined TSW in around late September or sometime in October maybe (of 2010). At the time, Explodinsauce was the leader (male Elf Paladin), and my "gang" at the time (the people I hang with the most within the Guild, especially for end-game content) was him (Explodinsauce), Rubyrain (female Kanian druid), Virilian (not sure I think he was a male Kanian, a Healer), Angelique (female elf... maybe Paladin? I can't recall her class, she was a female player in real life that much I remember), Poren (elf female Paladin I'm pretty sure, also a female player in real life), and the one and only Deadadocein I believe his name was (I might be wrong on a few letters here, that name was kinda though to pronounce and remember), a male elf Mage.

And many others whose names I unfortunately can't recall right now. Well I do recall one, indeed, Bitty. When I joined, Bitty was the main Tank of the Guild, and was the GT Tank (for Gorluxor's Tower runs). However, not too long after I joined TSW I do remember that he left us and joined Mercenaries instead. I didn't get to know him much so I can't say anything really, only that I recall the name and played with him in just a couple of regular dungeons for maybe 2 weeks max when he decided to change guild. But that group I mentioned I remember them well since they were my guys, loved them all and they helped me a lot. Explodinsauce was a fantastic Guild leader, super chill guy and helped me better understand the Tank role and made me gain some confidence in that role when I first started to Tank for end-game dungeons (which I wasn't doing when questing, usually stayed typical DPS).
If any of those names ring a bell for you please do let me know. If you played with any one of them let me know what they became if you do know that much. When and if they ever quit the game entirely? Or perhaps did they go on the Subscription servers? Or went to Empire side or anything? If you know anything about them let me know :)

I'll try to contact you soon! :)

thanks for that story
awesome, could have almost be done by me, i also enjoyed harassing various players in differnt ways to a certain extent so this gave be a huge lulz just by thinking about it
just the part of wearing a womans dress is too much overkill for me
but i think this was changed maybe; the pink dress now lets a male char wear a minimalistic outfit

Now if only I could find pictures of that pink elven dress, but I'm sure it's easy to find

one of these i guess

Twerk dance animations for the female Aoidoi

oh yes this is awesome
i am a huge fan of lewdness
they also have a pretty idle animation where she checks her boobs
its things like this which make the game so much nicer

this was a thing (and maybe still is?) for some time
https://mmos.com/news/allods-onlines-sub…-day-free-trial

it is a good idea to offer both options, payment and free game but it seems most players prefer the the full and free game, the paymentserver was never really successful here and has severe pupulationissues

they really pushed this game to new levels with the new quests

indeed. reading the quests is actually worth it

the raw number of costumes available today is astonishing

it really is. the creativity that was needed to do this is respectable
also, did you notice costumes go to a special store (wardrobe) now and no longer consume space in your regular inventory after using it?

Actually I found the dress in question, and curiously I don't see it in the Wardrobe now when I look, or maybe I missed it?

It's the one in the middle.
That dress could be equipped by Males back when I played, it was hilarious especially on Kanian Males because of their dance. We also had one guy in our Guild using that dress one day during the fight against Nogrom in Gorluxor's Tower on his Elf Male Paladin. You should have seen him charge at Norgrom from behind with that dress on lol.
It's unfortunate, but it does look like Males simply cannot wear 'lady' dresses anymore. Maybe it was too lewd for their tastes (for the devs, or the publishers, whichever decided). It was just for fun back then and it stayed that way for as long as I played. So if they removed that ability (for Males to equip lingerie and female costumes) then it must have happened sometime after I left around mid 2013. But it stayed there for as long as I played from what I can remember. I do recall seeing some Male Orcs in Yasker's Tower back when I was about to leave and played on Empire side with that same elven dress on. But the best one in my opinion was on the Kanian Males, just because of their dancing animation with it was hilarious.
I did try to find a single picture of that example on Google Images but I can't find any. Oh well! But I assure you, it was possible back then :)
