Staff casting for mages?

So make the mage staff cast spells? I like having a big staff on my back but I don't like it being useless... I mean if the casting animations are done good, it will be awesome.
First we had spell casting wich was cool, then came wand casting wich I began to grow acustommed to and why not have staff next?
P.S"I know this might make jealous other classes but still... You could implement it to other clases who have staff and mana... But maybe not...
