factionless game is silly and will thankfully never come

this would be another game then
(just imagine, all quest zones would have to be changed COMPLETELY)


It seems like you're thinking in a way the eliminates League and Empire completely and at new character creation you just choose race and class.
Making a game with factions "factionless" just means erasing the line that separates them. World chat would truly be world chat, skirmishes would pop as soon as enough players queued regardless of their faction and you could go on astral runs with Imperial and League players.

Making the game "factionless" would be awesome, no room for debate. It's a way to seemingly increase the population of the game greatly even though there are no new players. Then a faction change would be purely cosmetic, wouldn't effect anything in the game other than your own character.

All the quest zones would remain exactly how they are.
Everyone's unique, but if you want to fit in, do your best to hide it.
Money won't buy you happiness, it will rent the hell out of it though.
Knowing when something is going to end well is good.
Knowing when something is going to end badly is better.

erasing the seperate teams would erase a lot of fun
i dont want to have a worldchat with those i kill; in general the opposite faction is the enemy!
i like that they can NOT QQ in worldchat
skirmishes also pop empire vs empire often... for league it should be the same if enough queue

the only thing i agree with PARTIALLY are the astralruns, regarding the old astralcampaign where league and empire cooperated too
but then again since these factions are rivals it makes no sense to gt stronger TOGETHER with the "enemy"; rather get strong with your own faction and kill the enemy

the fun of this game is dependent on the rivality of league and empire...

and the furries pridens choose empire or league too after some quests

rather bind faction change to some HARD, REALLY HARD quest (like the personal allod but even longer), this way it WILL be possible but it wont be done inflationary...
or monthly factionchange-auction (like coremorpher) which will be only bidable so that it will be sold for 9.999.999. gold or something :P
Removing factions could be done without redoing all the low level stuff. Wright into the story of the level expansion where it would be removed the collapse or unification of the League and Empire and have the players transferred into the new governing faction when they run through new leveling zone.

This would leave the old lore in place and if you look at the story of the old content most(not all) of the problems that were blamed on the other faction were actually other factions(Tep and the gods' cults).

As to PVP replace the war banner with an item that allows you to kill anyone and a penitence system so you can pay off a bad rep from going on killing sprees(donate to the church to help the fallen rez). A bad rep from killing sprees could raise the cost/time to rez when you die and/or make guards attack you so you can't go to town.
