Hello! New player!

I've been browsing the forums and the overall attitude towards this game seems..unsettling. I've played games for almost 15 years now and with that experience, I've come across some rather atrocious games. With that in mind, I just wanna know a few things while I'm running around in-game.. if you don't mind.

1. Perhaps my first impression is wrong. Do people usually get along in this community?

2. In terms of stability, how long would you expect this game to last? I do not wish to stick around with a dying game anymore. I ask because I know Skyforge is in development.

3. I'm not too concerned with the "pay to win" argument, I just want to have fun. Will I run into any issues with content being restricted for not paying? Obviously if the game turns out to be something I like, I'll gladly toss a few pennies in!

4. What can I expect while leveling up? Will I go through a good ol' fashioned Korean-style grind? Or is there plenty to do while leveling up?

Thanks in advance!

1. Depends, but I thinkwe're a pretty good community even though it doesn'T seem like it. :P

2. Couple of years since the western Allods is carried by mail.ru. They host Allods in russia and it's really popular and making a lot of money.

3. Depends. You wont get into serious endgame or fair pvp without spending 100+€. If that bothers you you can try to play on the subscription server. There is no cash shop and therefor no restriction on anything. Only skill and gear matters. :P

4. There will be grindy parts, especially on f2p without spending any money but the overall leveling experience is beautiful in my opinion. Absolutely gorgeous zones, nice lore and cool dungeons.

1. there are VERY nice ppl in this game but many do not use the forum, some guilds even behave a bit like a small family

2. this game has no end in sight, since its based in RU and it runs more than great there its very very unlikely they will shut it down. also i have read skyforge has a different development team

3. there are NO content restrictions at all, allods is only pay to boost so without $ you will need more time and do less dps for some time
if you throw in a few pennies you can already ger excellent things from the start (griffon mount, level 5 runes and autoloot-helper) :)

if you are patient you can buy all "premium" things with ingame gold via exchange NPC (like i did, i never spent one $ on this game and really enjoy it)

4. leveling was the greatest part in allods for me, i really enjoyed it
there are lots of quests but you might want to repeat some instances a few times in order to prevent grinding (level 33-35; 37-38 and 39-40 are problematic if you dont use a few "tricks")
so you have more to do than you will have time to play most likely, many ppl like to do goblinball "battleground" while leveling and use the exp item from it for exp boost

1. the forum is relatively negative and hostile to cm's, we've been let down many times. simple request are often handled with a level of patronization that can leave a sour taste in your mouth.

the general population is nice, but it is a p2w game and many people have huge advantages over new players. geared players really arent going to fall over themselves to help you, there really is no incentive to.

2. i have no idea how much longer this game will last. all games eventually fail, thats just life. we are also getting a new patch that will introduce new gear and a new level cap in the next 6-8 months, so i dont know how much mileage you will gaine from leveling and gearing up in this patch

3. content isnt restricted, but this allods is very end game oriented. only the most geared people and geared guilds will see all the current end game raids, that isnt a deterrent to many people since most mmo's are like this anyway.

4. ive lveled up 10 toons, i dont personally care for it. i know 1 or 2 new players who enjoyed leveling since they've never played this game before.

i dont know if id recommend this game to a friend, but i surely wouldnt suggest they not try it out. it can be pretty fun.
