[PMB] Killerxyz's Pro Paladin Guide (In Depth)

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I. Introduction:

Hello everyone !, I am Killerxyz, a Skilled League Level 65 Kanian Great Crusader from New Frontier EN server. originally from NA Nezeb Server.

What is a Paladin ?
A Paladin is a class of Warrior that is fully devoted to kindness and ridding the Universe of Evil. They are very religious, and have an extremely strict honor code. In combat, a Paladin with a cause is almost impossible to defeat.
In Allods, Paladins are holy champions of the Light. They wear heavy plate armor and a shield which allows them to take hits and perform the role of "tank" that protects their frail allies. They can also switch from a shield to a two-handed weapon to deal more damage, or even use wands to strike enemies with ranged holy spells. Magical barriers enable Paladins to withstand the most powerful blows.

"Paladins fear nothing, for Evil fears them"

Throughout my Allods gaming career which started on the open beta, Paladin has been a mixture of defensive and healing abilities while also being able to wreck enemies with its burst and periodic damage provided from a melee range or a caster range by the use of not only the weapon, but also the holy wand. Furthermore it created a skill, strength, and a reality climax which pushed me forward to what i am on now, there was never such a class that provided me with equivalent fun and opportunity as the Paladin class.

Only 4 Races in Game can follow the path of light and be Paladins, you're let to make choice between:

  1. Kanian Crusader (League): They devote their life for the triumph of the good and order.
Racial Spell: Crusader's Endurance :- Holy barrier spell that combines all the damage in the 3 holy barriers into 1 holy barrier, but directing 25% of the damage in them to you.

  2. Xadaganian Avenger (Empire): They fight for their ideas, motherland, and leader.
Racial Spell: Rousing Shout :- Holy barrier spell that breaks the first holy barrier reducing it's damage by 30% and reduces damage received by 30% for 7s.

  3. Elven Templars (League): They are beautiful and value pleasure above all else.
Racial Spell: Pious Word :- Weapon hit that deals no damage but marks the target with a curse reducing its healing by 50% for 10s.

  4. Orc Reavers (Empire): They are strong and fierce warriors. Their goal is victory, and war is their way of life.
Racial Spell: Exhaust Evil :- Frontal AoE attack in a cone shape that deals massive damage and knocks all targets hit down.

Note: In order to receive all these racial spells on your race, you need to purchase Page from the Book of Secrets from the in game Cash Shop.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Next, I am going to explain what is the Paladin Special Ability.

Paladin's Special Abilities:
  1. The Holy Barriers , these Holy Barriers delay taken damage up to 50% of the Paladin's maximum health by 10s. The damage that is absorbed by the Holy Barriers can be reduced through Various spells (Overcome , Tenacity , and Deliverance ), reducing the damage ultimately that the Paladin takes. Each Paladin starts the game with 1 Holy Barrier and increases the amount to 3 after acquiring Extra Barrier rubies.

  2. Canons of Light and Canons of Purity : These will act as reagents for most of the Paladin's spells in combat, each Paladin has a maximum 3 Canons of each type that will be regenerating giving you 1 Canon of each type at a 10s rate, they are stated as passive buffs under the active combat bar (below name and health + energy bars in the top left side of the screen)

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Then, I am going to view Paladin World Mystery skills.

World Mystery skills:
  1. Courage :- Dispels all fear effects and grants immunity to them for 10s. 30s CD.

  2. Humility :- Fully restores all Canons of Light and Canons of Purity, but stops Canon regeneration for 30s. 1m CD.

  3. Mystery of the Light :- Increases healing received by all party members within 40yards by 100% for 10s. 5m CD.

  4. Gift of Tensess :- Calls on the Light to resurrect a friendly target with 10% of health. Cannot be cast in combat. 20hr CD and 15s Cast time.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Lastly, I am going to explain what a Paladin is capable of doing.

Paladin Class provides 2 different specifications:

Specifications:
  • Holy Tank Paladin which excels in shielding abilities via the Holy barriers, alongside the ability to heal and shield your allies which makes it great in Tanking and dishing out tons of damage due to filling of Determination bar not only on single targets but also on multiple targets using the AoE it provides, Not to mention the ability to Kite Unlike other Tank classes due to the use of ranged Holy attacks.

  • Physical DPS Paladin is one of the top single target DPS classes in Allods, Providing you with the ability to deal strong and continues(fast) blows with a mixture of physical and holy based CC spells, while being able to defend yourself using the holy barriers, heal, and shielding spells.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Here I am going to share with you a 5 years experience with the new update: Broken chains 6.0

First of all, lets take a look at the recent changes to Paladin in Broken Chains 6.0:

  1. After receiving damage 25% of it is directed to the Paladin without going through barriers has it's Advantages and Disadvantages :

    • The Advantage of it is that it could be a method of filling Determination bar faster than before, as you don't need to break Holy barriers in order to get the determination bar full.

    • The Disadvantage though, getting hit with a huge blow could result in your death without getting to use the holy barriers, as 25% of the damage is directed to you, and if the hit is more than 50% of the Paladin's health the rest of the damage gets directed to you automatically.

  2. New Rubies "Pledge of Allegiance" That allows the restoration of Canons of Light with a 10%/20%/30% chance after breaking a Holy barrier. Definitely a considerable choice for tank as you will be breaking holy barriers most of the time.

  3. But for a Physical 2h DPS the new patch brought a good ruby "Anger Flushed" that allows the reduction of Physical abilities Cool Down by 10%/20%/30% while under Righteous Cause effect. Definitely a recommended ruby if you're willing to improve your DPS significantly.

  4. A new good set of rubies "Mighty Strikes" will now increase the damage of Crusader blow, Crusader seal, Purifying Strike, Shining sword by 6%/9%/18%. Highly recommend that for a Physical 2h DPS build.

  5. Last new thing would be the set of rubies "Pure Thoughts" these rubies will restore one Canon of Purity by a 20%/40%/60% chance once you kill an enemy with your direct attack. I won't recommend this one, because it's a low chance that you will be killing someone with your direct attack.

Shield Slam :- Inflicts XX damage and knocks the target down but must have a Shield equipped. Consumes 1 Canon of Light.

Autodafe :- Applies an effect that inflicts XX fire damage per second and prevents the target from moving or using abilities for 3s/4s/5s. Consumes 2 Tears of the Dragon.

Challenge :- Forces the target to attack you for 10s. Consumes 1 Canon of Light.

Defensive Spells:

Overcome :- Decreases the damage in the first holy barrier by 33%/50%/66% and breaks the barrier.

Self-Sacrifice :- Restores all Canons of Light. but all the damage stored in the first Holy barrier is inflicted to you.

Weapon recommendation:
You won't be using the weapon as holy spells depend on your Wand , so 1h Weapon + Shield .

Skill Rotation for PvE:
Start a fight with Sacred sunrise > Righteous word > Condemnation > Interdiction to spread Condemnation effect then swap(tab) targets and spread Righteous word + Sacred sunrise + Interdiction simultaneously to keep aggro, use Challenge Mainly on Bosses and strong mobs forcing them to attack you. Defend yourself by using Touch of Light or if you need to save someone, just target him and cast it, it will shield him instead. When your team's health is extremely low use Mystery of the Light to increase the amount of heal by 100% to all party members followed by Solemn Prayer to heal them to full health, and increase your party healer heals by 100% for 10s. Use Holy barrier spells (Overcome , Tenacity , and Deliverance ) throughout the Fight.

Skill Rotation for PvP:
Any rotation is possible, but the main thing you need to keep in mind is to keep your distance from melee enemies (Kiting) by using Binding Curse occasionally. Remember to use CCs (Strike of justice , Shield Slam , Shining Sword , Binding Curse to trigger Seal of Silence ). Use Autodafe and Pious Anger when enemy's health is low to finish him off before he can use his heals. Make sure to use long term CD spells only when Determination bar is full to increase their effect. Use Alchemy potions like Astral Potion of Fast Restoration & Astral Potion of Fast Healing for increased survivability. Defensive methods for PvE rotation apply here too.

Reincarnation Synergy:
Healer's Divine foresight for extra healing. Or Holy shield which allows you to shield yourself while also avoiding CCs and spamming Holy spells. Great for PvP and PvE.

Tanking Racial Spells:
Use Rousing Shout to reduce incoming damage for a period of time. Or use Crusader's Endurance followed by Deliverance to clear all the Holy barriers and receive almost no damage.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Now that your Holy Tank Build is ready, you need to know what is it's
Weaknesses and Strengths:

A Holy Tank is not a good leveling option as the core Holy Spells are not available at the very first levels, results in a very slow leveling speed.

For endgame, A Holy Tank Excels very well in tasks were kiting is required and in the presence of PvE & PvP contests such as Astrals, Dungeons, Skirmishes and Dominion were the good AoE it provides comes in handy. Although when keeping aggro is needed, Holy Tank might require a huge skill contribution to hold the aggro fully.

Some of my achievements as Holy tank:
  • Raid Skirmishes(24 players on each side):
    Arena of Death

  • Small Raid skirmishes (12 players on each side):
    Witch's Hollow

    Scarlet Bastion(offense)

  • Party Skirmishes(6 players on each side):
    Dominion

Holy Tank is very good against Bursters Such as Warriors, Mages, Wardens, Scouts, Healers, and Engineers.
But might Suffer against DoT( Damage over Time) Masters such as Summoners, Bards, and Psis due to the huge amount of periodic damage that will pass barriers rapidly without being processed by the different barrier skills leading to a huge amount of damage being sustained.

III. Physical 2h DPS PvP & PvE Build:

PvP Build (Recommended):

PvE Build:

Main Physical 2h DPS Spells:

Offensive Spells:

Crusader's Seal :- Inflicts XX Physical damage to the target. If Condemnation effect is active on the target its duration is increased by 2.5s. Applies a Divine Sentence effect.

Entangling Chains :- Inflicts XX Physical damage to the target plus an additional XX damage if the target is affected by Divine Sentence effect, removes the Divine Sentence effect. Consumes 1 Canon of Purity.

Purifying Strike :- Inflicts XX Physical damage to the target plus an additional XX damage if the target is affected by Divine Sentence effect, removes the Divine Sentence effect.

Chastising Strike :- Inflicts XX Physical damage to all nearby enemies and removes Divine Sentence effects to deal XX additional damage. Consumes 1 Canon of Light & 1 Canon of Purity.

Shining Sword :- Inflicts XX Physical damage to the target and blinds it for 4s/5s/6s. Consumes 1 Canon of Light

Strike of Justice :- Inflicts XX Physical damage to the target and knocks it down for 2s. Consumes 1 Canon of Light.

Aura of Ferocity :- Effect that decreases you armor by 50% and increases the damage of all your group members by 5%/10%/15%. Cannot be used if a Shield is equipped.

Righteous Cause :- Decreases energy cost of all abilities by 50% for 20s. Increases the Cool Downs of all abilities controlling Holy barriers by 10%. Consumes 1 Canon of Light & 1 Canon of Purity.

Pious Anger :- Increases the damage you deal by XX% and allows using any melee combat abilities from a distance of YY yards. Consumes 5 Tears of the Dragon.

Stats for Physical 2h DPS:
You have to focus on Brutality* and Proficiency* for increased damage, and on Bloodlust* for continues life steal as DPS. Get more Willpower and Determination for PvP.

Offensive stats:

Proficiency*: 50+
Determination: PvP: 25-50 / PvE: 10
Brutality*: 25-50
Anger: 5-10

Defensive stats:

Vitality: 50
Willpower: PvP: 25 / PvE: 10
Tenacity: 15-25
Bloodlust*: 25-50

For bonus stats I recommend using a Luck + Bloodlust elixirs and a Brutality potion.

Weapon recommendation:
You're let to make a choice between 2h Hammer* or 2h Axe(Cleaver)* considering you've got tons of energy conservation/regeneration spells, you can use a 2h Sword or 2h Spear but the damage output will be much less. Keep in mind that offensive spells Energy Cost & Cool Down depend on the type of weapon you are using.
  • Go for 2h Hammer* or 2h Sword if you're willing to have consistent damage.
  • Go for 2h Axe(Cleaver)* or 2h Spear if you're willing to have a wide damage range.

Skill Rotation for PvP:
Start off using Strike of Justice > Crusader Seal > Entangling Chains > Righteous Cause to reduce energy consumption and cooldowns on offensive spells > Crusader Seal > Purifying Strike , Do the same rotation again until you've got 6 stacks of Concentration , then use your Pious Anger which will increase your damage and melee attacks range significantly that will be beneficial against kiters to finish them off from a distance. Keep in mind you need to time your CC spells (Binding Curse to trigger Seal of Silence , Shining Sword , and Autodafe ) in between to control the target so as not to sustain so much damage and to prevent it from casting heals too. Make sure to use long term cool down spells only when Determination bar is full to increase their effect. If you run out of energy before killing your target make sure to use Common Energy Potion of Concentration which gives you doubled Energy regeneration rate for 18s, also use Astral Potion of Fast Restoration & Astral Potion of Fast Healing for increased survivability. Defensive methods for Holy Tank apply here too.

Skill Rotation for PvE:
For a group of mobs: Start off with Condemnation > Anathema to spread Condemnation > Crusader's Seal > Chastising Strike then complete using PvP rotation.
For Single Targets: Start off with Condemnation then complete using PvP rotation.
I picked Righteous Word and Challenge in case you need to off-tank, use them to increase your threat and hold aggro, this allows you to tank and dps at the same time if needed. Defensive methods for Holy Tank apply here too.

Reincarnation Synergy:
I would highly recommend Warrior's Charge for closing distances in PvP. or Telekinetic Pull for grouping up enemies and obliterating them with AoE damage in PvE & PvP.

DPS Racial Spells:
Use Exhaust Evil accompained with Chastising Strike to deal tons of AoE damage in PvE and PvP, Or use Pious Word to reduce your target's healing by 50% for 10s in PvP.

Now that your Physical 2h DPS build is ready, you need to know what is its
Weaknesses and Strengths:

A Physical 2h DPS is a great leveling option, considering the core Physical DPS spells are available starting from level 1, provides you with a fast and ideal leveling method.

For endgame, A Physical 2h DPS excels in task were Single targets are available and in the presence of PvP Contests, including different bosses in Astrals and Dungeons, while also having some PvP tricks for Skirmishes and Dominions that will help in achieving the goal of destruction throughout Allods. keep in mind you need be very precise while taking decisions and to be skilled in manipulating your Rotations in PvP.

Some of my achievements as a Physical 2h DPS:

I don't play DPS much but here's one Witch's Hollow i have done

Physical DPS is very good against healing classes such as Full healers, Summoners, Bards, Also against squishy classes such as Warriors And ranged Scouts.
But suffers against cc and shielding classes that can either let your buffs time out or absorb and reflect the damage back to you such as Psionicists, Wardens, Melee Scouts, and Engineers.

IV. Paladin Trainers:

Now that you know what your'e going to do, next step is heading to the Paladin trainer and learn from him more about Paladin.
For the League, Victor Voronov is located in Novograd's Church.

For the Empire, Stas Chemerkin is located in the underground floor of Yasker's Tower.

He will Provide you with the ability of resetting your Talents and Rubies in exchange with Water of Death , and Stat points in exchange with Water of Life , they can be purchased in game from the Cash Shop. Bear in mind you can reset your Talents, Rubies, and Stats without Water of Death and Water of Life as much as you want before level 15, after level 15 you will need them.

Hello, thanks for asking and am happy to explain why... yes you can use a 2 handed sword. but the damage output will be less compared to hammer and axe considering you've got tons of energy regeneration spells, so your energy will be like full most of the time and the sword energy consumption is low with low damage, so it's like a waste of potential and dps. it's ok to go for sword but it's always better to choose betweeen hammer and axe.

Secondly, this Physical PvP build has Righteous cause r3 in it but looks like you didn't notice :P ,and you won't need interdiction because you don't use condemnation on PvP DPS single target build and they would be a huge waste with very low damage since you need rubies for them too..., but you can use those on Physical PvE DPS build.

glad to help out and good luck

ok for righteous word you won't need it because this is a PvP build, you won't need to take aggro so forget about it, for the stats, they are in points not in percentage, for 2h spear its a waste of dps as you mentioned less energy consumption- less dmg.. so yes axe will be good for you :D
