cant see anything while playing the game

well...i have a weird issue. I start up the game, log in, select my server, and connect with no problem most of the time. The problem comes along when i get to the character selection/ creation screen. See...its as if no textures are loading, everything is just black. I can see my toon standing there, but i cant see the armor, weapons, skin...nothing. I just see a silhouette of my character. Its the same thing with my surroundings, everything is just black with no textures. So any insight into this issue, and any way to fix it, would be much appreciated.
