Heroes of Sarnaut!

Today we would like to make an important announcement regarding subscription server. We will discuss the changes that will affect it in 16.0 update and the reasoning behind them.

  • In update 16.0, the website store with style items (excluding collector's editions) as well as the Marks of Accomplishments and related merchandise will cease to exist as two separate systems.

Subscription server has always been a space where purity of gameplay and balance were valued. We were cautious about introducing changes that could affect things that had already become familiar, and therefore, for a long time after its launch, there was no universal value on the subscription that we could freely use as a reward for both active community members and participation in various events.

In 2017, Marks of Accomplishments were introduced, which could be earned by participating in the Circle of Equals tournament and after that for active participation in the game community. Holders of the Marks had access to a special range of goods, including various style items, consumables, and conveniences (including some unique items that were not available by any other means).

There was also a separate store where players could purchase costumes, pets, weapon skins, and other popular items. When introducing it for subscription server, we deliberately tried to distance ourselves from any possible associations with the Boutique, which is why it was located on the game's website.

In order to increase the number of players on the subscription server, we decided to identify and resolve the most significant issues in the both systems:

  • Marks of Accomplishments remained an obscure currency available to very few, which contradicted the principles of subscription server. Their implementation was unsuccessful; due to the lack of flexibility in their mechanics, we were unable to make them available to a larger number of players, and those who received them faced various inconveniences (such as being strictly tied to the specific character where they were obtained). We, in turn, were unable to quickly expand and change the available range or reduce prices for it as part of various promotions.
  • The store on the website was inconvenient in many ways: from less intuitive design and clarity to technical features of its operation (for example, the inability to quickly deliver purchased items due to the need to use the mail and a number of other issues). In addition, many players often made mistakes when choosing the characters for whom they purchased items, and they had to contact Technical Support to transfer them, which sometimes led to a significant increase in the workload on the latter, and with it, the processing time for other requests.

Hoping that in the context of the subscription server, such releases would be better accepted by players, we only made them unnecessarily complicated.

To fix the problems mentioned above and provide a more convenient user experience, we decided to review our approach to these systems and settled on the following solution:

  • In exchange for the two retiring mechanics, the subscription server will gain access to their own separate Boutique, which will be their ideological continuation and will allow you to purchase style items and services for your character. At the same time, just as it was before, it will not contain any items that directly enhance the character.
  • All Marks of Accomplishments that players now have will be converted into a new currency (available across the entire account)—Malachite, which can then be used to purchase items in the Boutique (and in the future - Collector's editions in the store on the website, similar to free server).
  • Immediately after the release of 16.0 update, Malachites temporarily will only be available by replenishing your account on the website (or as various community rewards), but soon we will add additional opportunities to obtain it through gameplay (in addition to the existing ones: Free Trader Marathon and Battle Campaign).
Please note that all items purchased with Malachite will be bound to your character.

Some of the items previously available on the game website and for Marks of Accomplishments will be moved to the Boutique, while others will soon be obtainable through gameplay without having to purchase them.

The Boutique will also expand its range of color schemes for vehicles, and additional appearances of Holy Weapons and rare costumes for themed holidays will appear. These costumes will only be available during limited-time promotions tied to race or class holidays, and only if such costumes were not previously available on the subscription server.

In addition to the above, we would also like to share a brief description of other changes that will soon be added to the subscription server:

  • Copies of the Sorcerer's Emblem will become available for Reincarnations if their Progenitor already has such an emblem. Copies can be obtained from the Experts in the Inexplicable in the capitals of the factions.
  • An additional opportunity to change classes several times a month through gameplay will appear.
  • The basic capacity of the quest log will be expanded.
  • The task for obtaining the Herb and Mineral Guide will be simplified.

We hope that these and future changes will make playing on the subscription server more comfortable while remaining true to the ideas that formed its basis.

Thank you for staying with us! See you in Sarnaut!
